Upcoming EHT Awareness Days
In nearly three months, January 11, 2027, will be National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, and January will be National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the United States. Six months later, July 30, 2027, will be World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
Every year, millions of people around the globe become victims of human trafficking. The 2025 United States Department of State “Trafficking in Persons” report documented human trafficking taking place in over 180 nations and territories.
Aglow International has a presence in over 170 nations; we need to Lift Our Standard globally to End Human Trafficking. In 2027, these important awareness days provide a renewed opportunity for communities and individuals to stand together and make a difference by focusing on human trafficking awareness, prevention, and supporting survivors.
Let’s begin by looking at a few recent positive and negative events occurring throughout the world:
- The 2026 International Conference on Strategies for Combating Human Trafficking opened in Taipei on August 25 as an important platform for Taiwan to exchange anti-human trafficking policies and practices with international partners.
- Philippines Moves From Promises to Protection in a New 2030 Fight Against Modern Slavery: The roadmap aims to unite government, businesses, workers and survivors against child labor, forced labor, trafficking and modern slavery.
- TAIPEI TIMES: A total of 3,401 people were investigated in human trafficking cases from 2021 to last year; 147 cases were implicated in suspected organ harvesting.
- New research from Thomson Reuters reveals alarming cross-border patterns in the trafficking and disappearance of Indigenous women and girls across Canada and the US.
The foregoing tells us about two contrasting trends: human trafficking continues at a strenuous pace worldwide, but so do efforts to end it. The following are ways for Aglow International to Lift the Standard to prevent and End Human Trafficking:
- PRAY – as individuals, in groups, through community prayer drives, for places where trafficking may be taking place, for example, strip clubs, spas, massage parlors, truck stops, hotels.
- EDUCATE – inform parents, churches, schools, organizations about what they can do to protect children from becoming victims of trafficking. Distribute educational information and resources, tool kits, videos, and brochures.
- HELP- assist law enforcement as they rescue victims and arrest traffickers; volunteer time, skills, money to aid survivors and victim service providers.
- ENCOURAGE – elected officials, community and business leaders to get involved in awareness and prevention activities and to strengthen anti-human trafficking laws and funding.
- LEARN – become informed and inform others about the relationship between human trafficking and social media, pornography, artificial intelligence, and drugs.
- OBSERVE AND REPORT – Become familiar with the “grooming and trafficking signs/red flags” and report actual or suspected trafficking to local officials and to trafficking hotlines such as the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
When Justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. Proverbs 21:15
