Making the Most of the Opportunity

Making the Most of the Opportunity

Recently, Cheryl Johnston, President of the East Central PA Area Team, sent in a personal story of a special time she shared with her 9-year-old granddaughter, Maddy.

That morning, as Maddy prepared to leave for school, they took time to share communion together. Cheryl said, “Maddy prayed over the bread, and then we took it. Next, I prayed over the juice, and we drank it.”

After Cheryl prayed over the juice and they drank the juice, Maddy said, “While you were praying, I saw a bubble in my juice. I touched it and put the juice on my finger in my mouth. It tasted sour. After you finished praying, I drank the rest of my juice, and it tasted sweet.” It was the perfect opportunity for Cheryl to tell Maddy about one of the guards offering Jesus the sour wine while He hung on the Cross. Cheryl said, It was a special time together with a deeper understanding of communion.”

God gives us special times with the young people in our lives. How has God used you to share your story with your children or grandchildren?

It is so important that we step into these special moments just as Cheryl did. She is training up Maddy in the way she should go, building an unshakeable foundation for later years when Maddy will be able to stand firm in her faith.

We are His hands and feet in the earth, advancing His Kingdom one person at a time. We would love to hear your story with your children or grandchildren – or maybe even with a stranger you met.
