In Everything Give Thanks

As the ministry of Aglow, started long ago by 4 women who were pressing in for more of God, walks into our 60^th anniversary, each one of us has stories to tell.

I began as a very shy, young woman in my late 20s. I was willing to help set up the room and come back to help tear down after the meeting was finished, but I was too shy to stay for the actual meeting – and that was where all the community and family was built. Finally, there came a day when I stayed for the meetings, and it was during one of those meetings that one of the leaders told me, “Kathy, I believe if you will pay your membership (Global Partnership today), God will use you in Aglow.” Well, I did, and as they say, the rest is history!

Around 1983-84, I began attending conferences. The first one was in Washington, DC. The room was HUGE and filled with round tables with thousands of women. I remember thinking to myself, “This is really big!” I remember the worship in those early conferences. God’s Presence was so thick that it felt like a literal, tangible weight in the room. I remember hearing Jack Hayford say, “Right out of our realm of vision, God is at work.” I’ve never forgotten that. It has carried me through many hard times when I felt alone. Right outside my realm of vision….He is ALWAYS at work on my behalf. That is True Love.

I was there in 1991 when the Thread Word was given and again in 1993 and 1995 when it was reconfirmed. I still remember the roar that came forth from the audience when the speaker said, “God is saying that He will give you Islam if you will take it.” I believe that was Rick Joyner. And I remember how all the hair stood up on my body when Jane said, “Islam is the greatest anti-Christ spirit in the world today.” It still is, and we can see the encroachment all across the world. I believe that we have pulled the thread sufficiently to unravel the garment over Islam that all who have eyes to see can see the demonic ideology at work. The good news? God has given us the keys of His Government to bind on earth what is bound in Heaven. We continue to stand on the walls of our nation, binding this anti-Christ spirit.

The last 59 years of Aglow are FILLED with revelation, prophetic words, instruction, teachings, information, friendships, leader development, battle scars, victories, losses, more victories, and believe it or not, our best years are not all wrapped up in the first 59; our greatest years are still to come!

I am both thankful and grateful for my years of growth in Aglow. I value the friendships I’ve made along the journey. I treasure the hard times because that is when I grew the most. I cherish my time at the Headquarters office. While that is another story entirely, I will always hold dear the years of transcribing conference messages for the field.

Our website, aglow.org, is a vast treasure chest filled with resources to help you along your journey. If you are new to Aglow, I challenge you to take time to search through the conference messages that go all the way back to 2004, when Dutch Sheets held that key in Jane’s face while shouting – it seemed like he was shouting, you know how passionate he is – “I give you the Key! I give you the Key!” It was a pivotal moment for the ministry. There have been so many. It makes me smile as I look back.

A great door is always open before us in Aglow, and God is always there beckoning us to come in and explore with Him. There are nations to take, people groups to pull through the right time window, air supremacy to decree from, and His rich, weighty Presence to wrap around us.

I hope you will set aside time to discover the rich foundation that Aglow is built upon. And, as we go into the future, we will need some things from our past, as Dutch Sheets said in 2017.
