What is God doing in Aglow Around the World in This New Day:

The Caribbean Region:

Last November 7-9, 2024, the Aglow’s Caribbean Region held their conference in Kingston, Jamaica. During their planning the committee experienced many challenges as their event drew nearer but saw the hand of God in guiding and protecting Aglow in the Caribbean.

Two days before the Conference start-date, a severe tropical storm swept across the Caribbean—on track for Jamaica which also caused the Jamaican airport to be closed with no incoming nor out-going flights. Other issues surfaced in-between, but God, who is both mighty and faithful intervened at every point.

The Caribbean Aglow family, braved setbacks from flight delays and cancellations and gathered in Kingston, arriving into an atmosphere primed through much prayer, pregnant with expectation. Over time, we have lost Aglow’s presence in some of our Caribbean nations and not all active nations were able to send representatives. However, the Aglow Jamaica turnout was excellent, and the host team did a really fine job, covering all the bases beautifully! The Conference started strong and ended with a flourish. There were some unique features that combined to make this conference perhaps one of our most memorable.

Involvement of Lighthouse Advisors and Foundational Members

The presence, level of support, and at some pivotal moments, direct involvement of Lighthouse Advisors (men) in the Conference through prayer, prophetic word and ministry was much appreciated. Their participation was enriching and appropriately managed. It was evident that relationships with Advisors had been solidly built, much respect is shared and that they had something to deliver. We were also blessed with the presence of foundational members of Aglow Jamaica who encouraged us with their presence and their unabated passion for the ministry.

The Worship, Messages And Prophetic Ministry

From the very first session, both worship and message filled the room. It was clear that the Holy Spirit had arrived and He ‘tabernacled’ with us throughout. Of course, Aglow people are people of prayer. We prayed an invitation and God emphatically accepted. He had much to say to us— strong warning, strong encouragement and detailed instructions. No one could have left the Conference in doubt as to whether God was demanding change—immediate and deep. But He made it clear that He is with us.

Speaker Rev. Mary Wildish shared her recent experience of God-directed change as the Senior Pastor of her church. She spoke to us against the backdrop of Hezekiah’s Reformation. Together, we covered the ground of perplexity and challenge, leading to victory. There were no simply theoretical prescriptions delivered here. Apostle Brent Pedro gave us the step-by-step ‘nuts and bolts’ in layers.

The primary message of the Conference was:

  • God intends that Aglow’s latter days be greater than the former
  • Entry into the requirements for the new day will require persistent, effectual prayer, strategic action and a willingness to migrate out of our comfort zone and to embrace new modes of operation.
  • Some things that we persist in asking God to effect for us, depends on our willingness to move out and to embrace responsibilities and ground that he has already given us jurisdiction over, and that actually rest in our hands. We need to stop asking God to do for us that which He has already directed and provided.
  • The ‘new day’ is already upon us. In this season of gathering darkness, we need to step into the ‘new day’. The teaching and instructions were clear and unambiguous.

Welcoming and Honoring

The Conference was pleased to receive greetings from our outgoing International CEO/President Jane Hansen Hoyt and recently appointed International Field Director, Janae Lovern. Their messages were warm and encouraging. We were also pleased to note the appointment of Margaret Ann George as new Chairman of the Caribbean Regional Committee and to welcome her. We also noted the appointment of Jill Moses as President of the National Committee of Trinidad and Tobago—with oversight for the Southern Caribbean. She has joined the Regional Committee.

We were careful to take the time to honor past and present stalwarts of the Aglow ministry who have served—and in many cases, are still serving— in the nation of Jamaica. They are a cadre of beautiful Caribbean women who love the Lord and count themselves privileged to be in His service.

Overall, the Conference was an overwhelming success, and we anticipate that the nations in the Caribbean region have stepped into a ‘new day’.

I served as President of Manor Park Aglow for a few years. It was in Kingston at the Crowne
Plaza. I miss those wonderful years!

Hi Kim. It’s great hearing from you. You were such a blessing to the Manor Park Chapter ( now called Lighthouses). A remnant continues to carry the light through other Lighthouses in the city and a few in areas outside Kingston. We are grateful to God for His favour as we continue in this Ministry. May the Lord keep you.
