The Children’s Bread Lighthouse
by Linda Jones, Director, US Field Administration
Recently, Marilyn Thiessens, President of Utah Area Team, sent us news of the birth of a new Neighborhood Lighthouse in Utah. I believe that you will be encouraged by what Marilyn shared.
Marilyn said, “We birthed a new baby Lighthouse, the first of its kind here in Utah. It is a Lighthouse of intercession where Parents and Grandparents pray for their Children, Grands, Great Grands, and those yet to come. We named it “The Children’s Bread” for our local purposes.
The Holy Spirit has given us powerful prophesies about His Presence and how the prayers and praise here will affect present and future generations.
As a Neighborhood Lighthouse, it has two Leaders, Colleen Hansen and Gail Manfre, both seasoned in intercession and in Aglow. They keep the Day and Night, Night and Day fire burning on the altar by holding two Wednesday Meetings a month. One on the 2nd Wednesday at 10 a.m. and one on the 4th Wednesday at 7 p.m.
There is a great Tree on one wall of the living room where people who come write their names and their family’s names on a green leaf and place it on the tree.
At one of the first meetings, they lifted up prodigals in effective, fervent prayers that availed much. Then, they put the names of their prodigals on paper hearts, exchanging them with one another to take home and pray over each other’s prodigals.
Each Wednesday meeting follows a Scripture theme and is filled with any or all of these: prayer, praise, intercession, worship, prophetic acts, and testimony!”
Marilyn ended with, “As Area President, I’d love to see one of these Lighthouses in every neighborhood!”
I firmly agree with Marilyn! I believe that each community would benefit as parents and grandparents come together to lift up their family line. Aglow has always reached out to generations older and younger and worked hand in hand to bring God’s Presence into all they do.
If your team starts a Lighthouse that is specifically praying for family lines, let me know, and I’ll let Marilyn know, too. And if you already have a Lighthouse that has been doing this, let me know. I’d love to hear about it. We always love to hear what Aglow groups are doing to reach people and to make a difference for the Kingdom in each community. As I have said many times, Lighthouses are birthed by God as a gift to the community He sits in. He has plans to touch people in the community – What is He saying to you about your Lighthouse?
We would love to hear your story.
