Aglow SW Region Washington DC Report

In April, Mary Jo McKean, US Director SW Region, along with Ledene Johnson, Nevada SPC, Clara Cordova, New Mexico SPC and Darcy Schumacher, Southwest R.S.T., joined together for a prayer trip to Washington, D.C.

Mary Jo said, “We arrived in old Alexandria on Friday, and Saturday morning we were able to walk to the Potomac River and pray. We spent time at Arlington National Cemetery and joined our prayers with those who have walked the grounds before us.

On Sunday morning, we drove around the embassies and prayed for the countries, especially Israel and those in the Middle East. During our visit, there were talks between Israel, Lebanon, and the US. That afternoon we visited the Bible museum and learned about the Word of God’s treasures and rich history.

Monday morning began with a briefing on Iran, and we left with these prayer points:

  • Continued prayer for a quick resolution to the war with Iran and a new government for the Iranian people
  • Pray for the Iranian Resistance and continued protection and good Intel
  • Pray for all those who lost loved ones (estimated over 50,000) during the 2026 Iranian protests.
  • Pray for water in Iran (their water has disappeared due to corruption)
  • Pray for the people of Iran. Inflation is rampant

Later, we met with Faith McDonnel, director of Advocacy at Katartismos Global, who left us with these prayer points.

  • Pray for the families trapped as indentured servants in brick-making factories
  • Pray for Pastors that they not fall into deception for political purposes (Shepherds for sale)
  • Pray for the American Association of Evangelicals and all the events for the 250-year celebration of our country. Especially May 17 for “The Rededication of America” on the National Mall, Washington, D.C

We began our day on Tuesday by joining in prayer with others at Family Research Council before a time at Faith and Liberty, then prayer walking the halls of the Supreme Court before we ended our day at David’s Tent for a time of worship and prayer. A prayer point from FRC:

  • Pray for the ladies suffering from trauma who have taken Mifepristone, the mail-order abortion pill.

Wednesday, we started our day at The Capitol with Chaplain Kibben who opened the way for us to attending the opening prayer in the House Chamber where we literally ran into the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, afterwards.

We ended our time in front of the capital by taking the dirt and rocks from our 4 states, which we had anointed with the Mid-Atlantic Unity oil and prayer, and planting them on the Capitol grounds.” Not only has Aglow sent in monthly prayer teams into DC since 2008, many State Capitals have Aglow prayer teams coming in monthly to declare that God is Sovereign over all decisions made by elected officials and to ask for wisdom as they govern each state.
