Send Your Aglow Leader to Conference

It is time to Register for Conference! Believe me, you will want to be in DC this year for our National Conference.

A recent email from a leader in the field triggered this because I realized others might not be aware of this, so I am taking this time to remind you.

The question from the leader was: Can Aglow funds be used to help send leaders to an Aglow conference? The answer is a resounding YES! And this is why:

General funds are to be used to meet needs in line with Aglow’s purposes.

Aglow funds CAN be used to send Area and Lighthouse leaders to Aglow conferences, Area events, and Regional events.

  • Aglow Conferences, retreats, and Regional events provide training, cast vision, and equip leaders to lead in their communities. ALL leaders should attend these events and should not be hindered by a lack of personal finances.
  • Sometimes a team simply does not have the funds to help send their leaders to conference. It would be perfectly okay to receive a designated offering for the purpose of sending leaders to our conference.
  • Depending on how much money the team has and how many leaders are going, the team should be generous enough to cover the registration, airfare, and room, if possible. And if the team is able, they could also give a food allowance. If more than one leader is going, the available funds should be distributed equally.
  • As funds are available, you may offer financial help to others in the Lighthouse who have expressed a desire to attend Aglow conferences, Area, and Regional events. This is a great opportunity to raise new leaders.
  • I must add, over the years, I have talked to MANY leaders who had a heart and strong desire to go to our National or International conference, but there were simply no funds available to do so. These leaders were encouraged to put their faith in the One who makes a way when there is no way. I wish I had kept a list of testimonies of women who showed up at conference because God made it happen! He is FAITHFUL!

If you are given Aglow funds to attend the conference, you will need to be responsible for turning in receipts for the expenses you incur. If you have funds that you didn’t spend, you would turn those back to your VP of Finance along with the receipts. This makes us good stewards of Aglow funds.

To be sure, using funds like this is for Aglow events, NOT events sponsored by other ministries.

The above information can be found in the Lighthouse Leaders Digest on page 59, though it doesn’t specifically allude to Area Teams; they are included.

Back in 2005 & 2007, when both Digests were being updated, changes were made so the same information WOULD NOT BE included in both Digests. Because Area Teams are responsible for knowing the information in the Lighthouse Digest to help the Lighthouses they oversee, Area Teams will also need to look in the Lighthouse Digest if they cannot find what they need in the Area Digest.

The Digests are constantly being updated. It is ongoing and never-ending. We are happy to tell you that soon, you will be able to find the Lighthouse and Area Digests at leaders.aglow.org. And you can always ask Druci to send you a copy of the most recent updated copy of each Digest.

Because the Digests are ever-evolving works, you will need to check back often to see if there are new updates. If there are, just download the new Digest copy and delete your old one. You can always find the updates on the very first page of the Digest, which is reserved to notify you of recent updates.
