Louisa Aglow Lighthouse Anti-trafficking Event

Louisa Aglow Lighthouse Anti-trafficking Event

The Louisa, KY, Lighthouse was birthed in March of 2024. Just a short two years later, they had their first anti-trafficking awareness event. When the team inquired of the Lord why they were to hold the event in Louisa, Holy Spirit replied, “Awakening!

Louisa has a population of nearly 3 thousand and is located in eastern Kentucky, very near the border of West Virginia.

Michelle Scaggs, who serves on the Louisa Lighthouse Team as VP of Administration and the KY East Area Team, said that everyone who attended walked away feeling very awakened and aware of what could be taking place in their community.

Sherry Stevens from the Michigan Aglow and Meredith Baxter with Safe Passage, an organization from Louisville, KY, educated those attending on how to be aware, what to do when we suspect a child may be in danger, and how the internet and drug addiction play a role in these horrific situations.

The local Sheriff’s Office and Police Department offered full support, jumping in quickly to advertise the meeting, which brought in 46 people ranging from a recovery center, an after-school program, teachers, pastors and youth pastors, a priest, first responders, behavioral health staff, and even podcasters. Michelle said, “We were humbled and rejoiced at the response from our community and believe we are better informed to prevent our young people from being drawn into human trafficking.”

For many years, Aglow has helped to raise awareness in communities around the world. If you suspect sex trafficking is taking place in your community, call 1-888-373-7888.
