Freedom

Freedom

Taken from Nancy McDaniel’s Facebook account page.

The following was posted by our President, Nancy McDaniel:

One of the beautiful Core Values of Aglow International is Freedom — “Standing firm against everything that enslaves” (Galatians 5:1). This value doesn’t just sit on a page; it moves us. It compels us to open our eyes to injustice, to lift our voices in prayer, and to believe boldly that every person held captive—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—can be restored to wholeness.

In recent months, I’ve learned something that has gripped my heart in a new way: indigenous women around the world are among the most vulnerable to being abducted and trafficked. Their stories often go unheard, their disappearances unnoticed by the wider world. As this reality settled in, I found myself praying with a deeper urgency, asking God to intervene, protect, and rescue.

But awareness shouldn’t stop with just one person. How do we help others see the vulnerability of these precious women? How do we shine a light on what has been hidden for far too long?

One simple, powerful way is through Red Dress Day.

Every year on May 5th, people across nations wear red—a dress, a scarf, a ribbon—to honor missing and trafficked indigenous women and to raise awareness of their plight. This movement began in Canada about 15 years ago, and its impact continues to grow. The red stands as a bold, visual reminder that these women matter, their stories matter, and their freedom matters.

It’s such a small act, yet it carries a profound message: We see you. We remember you. We are praying for your freedom.

Would you join me this May 5th? Let’s wear red as a declaration of hope. Let’s pray with faith that chains will break. Let’s stand together for the freedom of indigenous women around the world who are ensnared in trafficking. May our united prayers and our visible solidarity become part of the freedom story God is writing.

We declare over God’s Freedom Story:

  • All law enforcement officers throughout the earth are alert watchmen who hear the cries of the brokenhearted and help to save those who are crushed in spirit.
  • All college students worldwide who travel and participate in events with large crowds, we say you are wiser than your enemies! We declare that you are not ignorant of Satan’s tactics.
  • Lord, You guard them from the hands of the wicked; and You preserve them from violent men who have planned to trip up their feet.” Ps. 140:4 ESV

Light the Nations

A Strategic Prayer Initiative

We are continuing our focus on the Middle East and Northern Africa nations.

The website is now LIVE! This website includes detailed information about each of the 38 nations we are adopting in prayer. It lists the unreached people groups within those nations.

Please visit it by going to: https://lightthenations.org/.

Will you consider adopting a nation or nations in prayer? And will you let us know which one (s) you are praying for? Drop me a note at helenduperree@aglow.org and let me know what God has put on your heart! Aglow, this is our portion! “Every nation changed. Every heart touched.”

The dates for praying on site will be September 22 – October 4, 2026. But we can go there NOW in our prayers! Here’s a list of those nations God is putting His finger on:

Surrounding Israel In Prayer

Submitted by John McCroskey, Aglow State Prayer Coordinator, Texas, USA

Pentecost is May 21-23 in Israel, and May 24 in many churches across the world. We pray for fresh fire!

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4

Father, we pray that all of us in Aglow will receive more of Your holy fire like on the day of Pentecost. And, as Shavuot (Pentecost, or the Day of Weeks, the last of the Spring Feasts) is celebrated in Israel, and as they celebrate the anniversary of the Torah being given to Moses on this day, we pray that they would come to know the power of Your Holy Spirit through the miracle of the new birth.

“The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah”, according to Jeremiah 31: 31. We pray for every member of the One New Man in the nation of Israel on this upcoming day of Pentecost that You will put your “law in their minds and write it on their hearts” according to Jeremiah 31:33b.

A Note and A Prayer

Do you know one of the beautiful things about freedom? Once you get there, all the things that mattered to you inside of those walls of bondage seem to fall off. When you step out of that protective shell and brush yourself off from the clothing of the enemy – from the cares of who will think what. From the embarrassment. The shame. The worry that you will look guilty. You see that none of it was ever yours. It was used to keep you behind those walls in bondage. And knowing there are many of us who have been deeply impacted by the terrors of human trafficking, in all the forms it takes (myself included), who have come inside the walls of Aglow to find healing, we stand today, healed. We stand whole. We stand with outstretched arms to the army of those enslaved and we cry out in prayer:

  • Just as God commissioned Moses to free the Hebrew slaves from Pharoah, He has commissioned Aglow in these last days to to speak to the enslaving spirits of this Age, and to say to them, “LET THE CHILDREN GO THAT THEY MAY WORSHIP!”
  • And just as Moses told Pharoah, “Not a hoof will be left behind!” We speak to that Pharoah spirit and tell it “NOT ONE OF THEM WILL BE LEFT BEHIND! WE WANT THEM ALL!”
  • So, we say to those of you enslaved, “We’re coming for you!”
  • And we shout out “Ollie! Ollie! Oxen free!” (Meaning, it’s over, it’s safe to come out now, you won’t get caught)!
  • We see you. We hear you. You are safe now.
  • And we release the sound of Isaiah 60:1 “Arise! Shine! For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you!”

Joyfully yours,
