Aglow news from around the world
I was recently in a time of worship with a group of Aglow leaders. Though I was aware of those around me, everything else faded as the Presence of the Lord became the only thing that mattered.
In 2017, I had a sense that change was coming, and Lighthouse groups must be prepared to be ready to facilitate the change.
One of the first steps we took after GameChangers and LifeChangers, two key leader development courses taught by Graham Cooke, was to write Fireside Chats for GameChanging Truths.
In 1979, the September/October issue (#42) of Aglow Magazine featured a small section on page 11 that announced, “Aglow is growing! The following groups were affiliated in June-July 1979.” It is quite amazing to see how far and wide the Lord moved in Aglow in the 12 years after Aglow started in 1967!
I love Lamentations 3:22-23. It says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning and great is Your Faithfulness.”
As a child growing up in the 1990s, there was a lot of information thrown at us very quickly as technology “grew up” with us.
In Graham Cooke’s 2014 conference in Albuquerque, NM, he spoke on the six expressions of the Church. As many know, the Greek word for Church is Ecclesia, a called-out company of people who are given specific purposes to achieve on earth.
When I think about how different my life would be without Aglow, I find myself overwhelmed with gratefulness. Sure, there were hard days. Anything worthwhile will be filled with situations that seem impossible at times.
God has never allowed us to settle. He has not allowed us to get caught in a former dimension. It is as though His hand has been in our back, moving us forward into where He wants us to be.
As I thought about what to share with you in this month of giving thanks, I thought of the hymn, “When I Survey the Wonderful Cross.” I particularly love the chorus that Michael W. Smith sings.
At our recent virtual conference, Graham Cooke reminded us of the importance of developing crafted prayers for these moments we are experiencing. These prayers are important in the direction we are going in ministry, health, finances, and relationships. Just last week at my desk here at HQ, the Lord reminded me about these crafted prayers
