New England Region Prayer Journey

New England Region Prayer Journey

On August 21, 2025, four women left from Maine for the New England Region’s annual Prayer Journey to Washington, D.C. Two women, a mother and daughter, made the trip for their first trip to D.C. after having moved to the United States 7 years ago from the Congo.

Chris Poitras, Regional Director of the New England Region, said, “It was a long 12-hour drive, and while we were tired when we arrived at the American Christian Trust, everything was ready for us, and we quickly settled in. Much thanks to Rose Duran, who drove and then drove us all over D.C. to our many prayer assignments. We gladly welcomed Brenda Barth, who was our hostess at the Trust, to come with us she could each day.”

Chris went on, “Even before we left Maine, we began to pray in the Spirit as we drove through each state. Many decrees were made as Holy Spirit alerted us to strongholds that needed to be broken, as well as blessings that were to be released. God is so good!”

On the first morning, the team met with Jason Hershey, who oversees David’s Tent, a house of 24/7 prayer and worship, on the Mall in D.C. It is always a delight to meet with Jason as he has a prayer office that is behind the Supreme Court. Many come to that office to pray for all that transpires in D.C. The anointing is so strong, and praise, worship, and prayer fill the room. The team prayed for Jason, and Jason also prayed for the team.

While the team was not able to go into the Supreme Court building, they spent time praying for each Justice, asking for wisdom and truth to prevail over each case they oversee. The team had lunch where there are usually many Senators, but that day, there seemed to be no Senators at all. After lunch, the team spent time praying at the offices of different Senators. As they passed by one office, they saw a young couple inside, and the team asked what they could pray specifically for the Senator. The young lady replied, “There is a lot of confusion and chaos right now. People (constituents) were calling with concerns, and many seemed very angry.” The team took time to pray while in that office with their feet on the ground, calling out for confusion and chaos to lift and order to come.

Chris said, “Even though we prayed many places in the city, each time we were in the Trust, we were praying. A certain Embassy is near the Trust, and they know Aglow intercessors come, and they asked us to pray over their nation. One of our team is a praise and worship leader in her church, and she led songs while we danced, rejoiced, and made declarations as Holy Spirit led us. There is a big globe in the room, and we laid hands on it and spoke life, salvation, healing, and deliverance to the nations. When we finished praying, we felt like we had been around the world!”

One afternoon, the team headed back to the Capitol, where all the monuments were. Annette and Manuela wanted to see all the Memorials. As the team walked through the different Memorials, they dropped little seeds all along their journey, planting seeds of hope, peace, restoration, forgiveness, salvation, reconciliation, and many other things. A bountiful harvest is expected!

Chris said, “The people of the world are really gathered in D.C. We felt very safe and saw groups of National Guardsmen walking around. We did not see protesters or rioting during our entire trip.”

That night, the team had dinner at an African Restaurant one of the ladies spotted earlier. Chris said, “It was a new adventure and the food was delicious. It was nice to try something new. Be brave and step out of the familiar into the unknown.”

While the team was not able to get into the White House, they did visit a replica that was close. It was amazing to walk through, and it looked real! At the end of the time, there was a replica of the Oval Office with a huge desk and a phone. Chris, of course, had her picture made sitting behind the desk and used Facebook to tell her friends that she had been given a new position – assistant to the President! As Chris said, “That was fun!”

On Sunday morning, we attended a church that the hostess, Brenda, suggested. It was packed and filled with people of many races. After lunch, the team spent time driving by the many Embassies and praying. A display at the Israeli Embassy showed pictures of each hostage who had been held for over 2 years.

The morning of our last day, the team met with Faith McDonnel, an advocate for the persecuted Church around the world. She is so filled with passion and compassion for those who are persecuted and in distress. She fights for their rights and encourages all she speaks to to contact their Senators to make sure they are aware of the horrible persecution going on in nations. Faith gave a report on the Congo, and both Annette and Manuela were touched.

After lunch, we met with the Assistant Chaplain in the Capitol. After a time of talking with her, the team was given a grand tour of the building. She told us of the history of when it was burned by the British in the 1800s. Seeing it today, it is a testimony that man cannot stop what God has ordained. The team was able to pray in the Prayer Chapel reserved for Congress. It was a special time.

Chris said, “As we packed our bags that evening, we reminisced about the many supernatural encounters we had. We felt that some may have been angels that we entertained unaware. God is so good, and we felt honored to put our boots on the ground in D.C., declaring that Jesus is Lord!”

Each month, a different region from the U.S. goes to D.C. to pray. God is faithful to bring each team to the right place at the right time. He loves each nation and has praying people stationed with great intentionality around the world. We would love to hear your prayer story from your nation!
