NE Region DC Prayer Trip

NE Region DC Prayer Trip

As Cathy Caylor, U.S. Regional Director for the Northeast Region, prepared to lead a group of intercessors into Washington, DC, to pray, she asked the Lord for a theme. Clearly and distinctly, she heard Him say, “Praise In The Midst Of The Storm.” Cathy said that she wasn’t really sure what Jesus meant by that and related it to the warfare her team experienced in getting there.

Cathy’s team was made up of Deb Moorhead & herself from PA. They flew into Dulles on the 3rd of July. Elaine Santo from NJ and Lois Saff from NY drove to DC and joined them on Saturday, July 5th.

Cathy said, “Deb & I took the Metro from Dulles Airport to McPherson Square Station and then walked to the Capitol Hilton. After storing our luggage at the hotel, we went via Metro to Capitol South Station and walked to the Cannon Congressional Office Building to meet with Renee Gamela, Deputy Chief of Staff for my PA Representative, GT Thompson. We had a wonderful visit. The staff was waiting for the “Big Beautiful Bill” to be passed. We ended the meeting with prayer for GT Thompson, Renee, and for the bill to get passed. We then walked through the building praying, stopping at and anointing Congressman Guy Reschenthaler’s office, and then we went to the Rayburn, Russel, and Hart Senate office buildings. There we prayed over John Fetterman’s office, and Dave McCormick’s office as well as the offices of other senators.

“Deb just happened to have some anointing oil called “Breaking the Curse in The House” that she received as a Christmas gift. We declared that anywhere there were curses at work in the House of Representatives, they must be broken! It was shortly after our declarations that the announcement came that the bill had passed! Glory to God!

“We ate lunch in the basement of one of the office buildings at a Steak and Shake. We then took the Metro to Smithsonian Station and walked from there to David’s Tent. We participated there by signing up to lead 1 hour of prayer. It happened to be Pennsylvania Week at the tent. Our new Aglow PA State Prayer Coordinator, Tahnee Meyers, was there, also helping to lead worship for several hours at David’s Tent on Thursday, Friday the Fourth, and on Saturday. It was great worshipping with her and the other worshipers from Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

“We returned to the hotel via the Federal Triangle Metro Station and ate supper there. It was an awesome first day, and we were surprised to find and eat supper there. It was an awesome first day, and we were surprised to find that we walked 8 miles!

“Friday, July 4th morning, we ate breakfast at the hotel and then took the Metro to Federal Triangle Station & walked down Constitution Ave. We found some benches behind the parade staff and a National Park Service-sponsored gathering there. We had bracelets & tiny “Jesus Loves You” figures to give out to people & tell them that Jesus loves them. It was so much fun! The parade was very patriotic, and we had ideal positions to hear and see people as they marched by, sang, and performed at our location. After the parade, we just sat there for a while. Then the National Park Service staff started handing out food and water they had left over, begging us to take it. That was our lunch. Earlier in the morning, I told Deb, “I wish I had a banana.” Well, the staff had a lot of bananas & I got 2. Hallelujah! A God kiss! From there, we walked to David’s Tent to worship & pray the rest of that day.

“At 6:00 PM, leading worship at David’s Tent was a Church from Georgia, ‘Restoration Church’, with a group of young adults called ‘The Well.’ The 6-9 PM worship was amazing. Those kids were on fire for God – so passionate. I met several of them & we prayed together. We were so blessed to be there. They said they come every 4th of July to pray for our nation and worship.

The fireworks that night were put off right behind David’s Ten, and we had an amazing view. They were beautiful! Worship and fireworks going on at the same time were awesome! Glory to God!

“After the beautiful display of patriotism, we walked down the center of Constitution Ave. to the Federal Triangle Metro station and took that to McPherson Square Station, which was nearest to our hotel. There were people everywhere. The Metro was free from 5 PM to midnight. What another awesome day in our Nation’s Capitol! We saw a couple of protests that really did not amount to much when surrounded by so many patriotic people. No one was paying any attention to them. Many of them walked, unknowingly, over our prayerfully anointed glory line!

“On Saturday, while we were standing in line to check out of the hotel, there was a mother & daughter of Asian descent in line behind us. We were able to speak into their lives. They did not know anything about Jesus! The mother’s name was Lydia, and the 14-year-old daughter, Apple, was really helping her mom to navigate. Our Father gave us a Divine appointment there with them.

“After we checked out, we walked to McPherson Square Metro in order to transfer to the American Christian Trust. After a transfer and getting off the redline VanNess-UDC Metro, our directions were leading us through the middle of the University of DC. That was a very challenging experience. There were many steps and hills, and it was very hot. There was a young girl jogging by and we asked her for directions, while looking for handicap ramps – and instead, she carried both of our heavy suitcases up 4 flights of stairs, both at the same time. She would not take any money, saying that she goes to the gym to lift and often does things like that for her mom. God truly does supply what we need when we need it.

“After finally arriving at the Trust, we met Mark Pritchet, and then Lois Saff & Elaine Santo arrived by car. Their GPS led them in the wrong direction, too! Lois and I went to Wegman’s grocery store nearby & purchased a rotisserie chicken & several salads for our afternoon meal. Faith McDonnell from Katartismos Global Advocacy came to the Trust, where we shared a meal together as she shared with us about the persecuted church globally. Afterward, we blessed and prayed for her.

“After Faith left, Mark showed us to our rooms. Lois had never been to the Trust before, so he showed her, with us all, the 3rd floor known as “the 3rd Heaven”. I noticed on the wall, a prophetic picture of Jesus walking on the water & speaking to the storm. Wow, there it was, my theme right there on the wall! We spent some time praying there before going to bed.

“The next morning, we prayed over each other before going to the National Cathedral 11:30 service to pray. I was very much surprised at the Presence of the Lord there. A young worship leader was singing “Worthy is Your Name, Jesus!” It was so beautiful! I had to stand with my arms raised – I just had to!!! Also, there was a young girl attending the service that the Holy Spirit highlighted to me. I gave her a little Jesus figure & spoke something prophetically over her. It was a divine appointment. Her home country was Algeria, but she now lives in WDC. Her name was Jasmine, and she said she would never forget that day.

“After the traditional church service, Lois drove us to George Washington’s Mt. Vernon Estate. We dined at a restaurant there and toured part of the mansion, although much of it was under repair. The estate was beautiful.

“We went back to the Trust, debriefed, and prayed especially for the meetings that President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu would be having the next day, and then went to bed.

Monday morning, we met with Peggy Nienaber at Faith and Liberty. Peggy shared with us some requests for prayer, and we were able to pray over her and bless her. It truly was a Divine appointment. We then walked to the Capitol to meet Karen Bronson at the Capitol South Entrance. She escorted us to Chaplin Kibben’s office.

“The Chaplain asked how we were all doing, and then she shared some things for us to pray about. We anointed her & prayed over her before we left. Another Divine appointment. Karen then escorted us to the cafeteria in the Capitol’s Visitor’s Center, where we had a delicious lunch.

“From there, we took an Uber to David’s Tent to meet Jason Hershey. It was VERY HOT. The real feel was 103°. Jason shared some things that we could pray about for him and the ministry before he left to go home and then come back again with his family. We stayed and worshiped at the tent for a little while, and then we took an Uber back to the Trust, where we could cool down and rest and then have some prayer time together at 6 PM during the time when the Trump/Netanyahu meeting would be going on.

Tuesday morning, July 8th, we got up early, loaded Lois’s car, and all headed for Family Research Center. Deb and I had a flight at 12:53 PM, so we had to leave FRC earlier than usual. Lois and Elaine were able to stay. Much of the time at FRC was spent praying for Texas, after the July 4th Guadalupe River flood that had taken so many lives. We prayed, also, that they would be able to find and rescue those who were still missing. We were able to see Nancy McGuirk, former Regional Director over the Mid-Atlantic region, from Maryland, and visit with her for a while when we first arrived at FRC. It’s great being able to pray together with all the powerful intercessors from DC that gather at FRC.

“Lois and Elaine drove 6 hours to return home. Deb & I arrived at Johnstown-Cambria County Airport around 2 PM & I drove home from there. It was an awesome trip filled with Divine appointments. We learned that many of those we prayed for had been through a storm or are still in the storm, and we left praying for those in Texas presently dealing with the aftermath of a very horrible storm.”

Each month, a different Region from the United States sends in a prayer team to Washington, DC. Each one has unique assignments and follows Holy Spirit as He opens doors for them to enter. Not only are the Aglow intercessors blessed, they leave a sweet aroma in the city as they make their decrees and pray for Uber/Lyft drivers, waiters and waitresses, other intercessors, and many governmental leaders. Everywhere they place their feet, God has given it to them.
