Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Isaiah 58:6
Prayer breaks chains and gives favor that is supernatural. It enables rescue and puts people in the right place at the right time.
For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given;
And the government shall be upon His shoulder,
And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
How are you doing this Christmas? I have friends and family with many different thoughts on the season...
There are the Black Friday shopping planners.
There are the Christmas Cookie makers and diet sabotagers.
There are busy moms planning parties.
Overwhelmed students finishing finals.
And so many more, with so many activities!
Regardless of what category you fit into, or create, there always seems to be a Charlie Brown moment in the season. You know – Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?!
In the midst of our Christmas giving, cooking, parties, shopping, and more, I was to share what’s been a great reminder for me this season.
A reminder of WHO Jesus is:
Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor.
He has all the answers. He has hope. He has love. He has wisdom. HE knows what to do.
Jesus is our Mighty God.
The One and Only fit to bear this title, He is like NO other. He is strong. He is mighty! His strength is enough.
Jesus is the Everlasting Father.
Everlasting. Not leaving. Won’t leave you or forsake you. You may feel alone, but He won’t leave you alone. Loving. Good Dad. Better than any earthly father, mother, or caregiver.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Ahh, peace. The one who brings silence to your night. The one who can bring calm, even in the midst of bright lights. The one who can bring joy in chaos, and hope in a family fight. He is our peace, regardless of what’s going on in the world around us.
As you go about this season, let’s remember who Jesus is!
National Human Trafficking Awareness Day – Wednesday, January 11, 2017
In 2007, the U.S. Senate designated January 11th as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day – a day dedicated to raising awareness of sex slavery, labor slavery, and other types of trafficking – worldwide. It is a day to bring global awareness of people who need freedom and rescue. I would like to encourage you to get involved in raising awareness by starting something in your community. Pray about what God would have you do and how you can get involved in 2017. We hope to have many opportunities for you to get involved, including hosting an anti-trafficking seminar in your community and showing the DVD TRAFFICK to your Lighthouse, neighbors or community!
Pray In December
As we’re in the midst of cold winter months, please continue to pray for trafficking victims:
- Pray that victims would know the peace and goodwill of Christ.
- Pray for the basic needs of trafficking victims to be met.
- Pray for basic needs, such as food, shelter, and blankets, to be met for homeless/run-aways. During the cold winter months, survival sex (exchanging sex for basic needs) is more frequent.
- At this time of year when many are lonely, there are a higher number of people seeking sex for sale. Pray for the buyers, that they would find peace and love in Christ.
- Continue to pray for Rescue Freedom International as they continue to rescue, restore, and empower those caught in slavery.
