Child with arms raised
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Isaiah 58:6

Prayer breaks chains and gives favor that is supernatural. It enables rescue and puts people in the right place at the right time.

Greetings! How are you? I hope you’re well!  This month read about amazing news regarding Backpage.com, plan on attending the anti-trafficking meeting at conference in San Diego, and pray over this month’s anti-trafficking prayer points.

Breakthrough with Backpage.com?

An incredible breakthrough has happened in the past few days, and you should know about it. Are you familiar with Backpage.com and its activities regarding sex trafficking? If you’re fairly active in social media, you may have seen this article, Backpage CEO Arrested On Sex Trafficking Charges, or ones like it shared in the past few days. This is because something very interesting has happened. The CEO of Backpage, Carl Ferrer, was arrested this week on felony charges of pimping a minor, pimping, and conspiracy to commit pimping. Backpage.com has long been under fire from many anti-trafficking leaders and abolitionists. Aware of their illegal activities of promoting sex ads of minors and adults alike, yet unable to press charges that stick, anti-trafficking supports have long been fighting to take this giant down.

While other sites such as Craigslist.com have shut down the escort section of their websites, Backpage.com has not backed down. Many see Backpage as the leading website in online prostitution around the world. Kamala Harris is quoted in the article saying, "Backpage and its executives purposefully and unlawfully designed Backpage to be the world's top online brothel."

The world’s top online brothel.

The article goes on to say that up to possibly 99% of Backpage’s revenue comes from its adult service section. It is a huge source of forced prostitution, and needs to be shut down. Now, the arrest of Backpage CEO Carl Ferrer doesn’t mean the site will be shut down, but it does mean that a foot is in the door for major change. Access to company records that prove illegal activity (the trafficking of minors) may just be what countless abolitionists, victims and former victims have been waiting for. It’s good for us to be informed of what is happening around us, especially so we can pray about it. Let’s pray that more would be uncovered, that the light of Truth will be shed, so that people can be set free!
