At the beginning of the year, I felt that the Lord gave me Ps. 65:11 for the ministry.
You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.
Abundance means plenty, richness, wealth, profusion, copiousness, lavishness, great quantity, loads. It has nothing to do with scarcity or lack.
Often we think of abundance only in relation to finances when in truth, abundance is meant for every area of our lives. Because we can put too much stock on what we see in the natural and we can think we don’t have abundance. The truth is God is always working behind the scenes to get us to a place where He CAN move abundantly in our lives.
A word given to us before our conference in 2010 told us that we were under renovation. Have you ever done a renovation in your home? If so, you know it can be a long, messy process. When you are in the middle of it – you think it will never be over!
Since 2003 we have known that Aglow was undergoing transition – a shift happened at our Worldwide Conference in Indianapolis and we knew we had been set on a path of God’s choosing. Each conference since then has been a building block set one up on the other as God’s intentionality toward and in this ministry has become more and more evident. Aglow is His; He began it, He caused it to spread to the nations, and He continuously watches over it.
A couple of weeks ago, I was involved in meetings with some members of IBOD where we looked in earnest at what God is calling us to in this day. Who are we, where are we going, even WHO are we becoming? These are exciting days and, as we poured over the words God has spoken to this ministry, we feel a growing excitement over what God has stored up for our future. You will hear more from me at our Conference in Houston regarding the decisions that have been reached.
I want to encourage each National leader and Regional Committee leader to be in attendance during the International Council meetings on Wednesday and Thursday September 28-29th. This year, for the first time ever, we have also invited U.S. and International Area Leaders to be a part of these meetings.
New Staff Changes
Two of our interns, Andrea Boysun and Paul Slye, have moved to new places outside of Aglow. Paul accepted a full time job in Minnesota and Andrea has moved to Colorado to pursue the path God has for her. Both of them are wonderful young people who brought much to our office and we will greatly miss them.
Another huge change comes in our Generations Department. Evangeline Weiner, whom you all know and love, has resigned to pursue God as He unfolds direction for the next season of her life. We knew when Evangeline came to us to help grow the Generation Program that it would most likely be for a season. She has done a wonderful job of getting the ball rolling. We have seen groups spring up across the world as nations have responded to her call to the Generations. Though we will miss her, we bless her and pray for the new season that is unfolding in her life.
One Door Closes, Another Opens
When Evangeline announced her decision to resign from her position in Aglow, God was stirring an ember in the heart of a new Generations Director. Having walked with our in-house Generations Group, one of the young leaders expressed a desire to work with and continue building generations groups and young people around the world. It is with great delight that we announce that Anna Hammer has accepted the position of Generations Director.
For now, Anna will wear more than one hat as she continues to be Administrative Assistant to Linda Jones in the Worldwide Field Office – USA and also helps Diane Fink with registrations for A.I.M. Anna is the daughter of our Advisor, Pastor Dan Hammer. She has worked with the ministry for six years, having begun in the Finance Department. She has an amazing heart for the nations and for the generations. She is a young woman with a heart after God and is gifted at preaching and teaching. We are confident that you will welcome and love Anna and that she will move the Generation Project to the next level. Watch for exciting new tools to reach the young people around you.
As we move towards our Worldwide Conference in Houston, we know with a surety that God is up to something big with Aglow. Our future is secure as we continue to follow the Holy Spirit. His promise is that our latter years will be more fruitful than our former years. I pray that you will join us in Houston, Texas on Sept 29 – Oct 2, 2011, for The Sound from the Nations Conference.

Here in the Pacific Northwest the newness and beauty of spring is all around us. This wonderful season is a much welcomed sight throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The extreme weather patterns of winter brought unusual amounts of snow and rain, along with numerous tornadoes. However, nothing compares to the devastating earthquakes that took place in both New Zealand and Japan, along with the tsunami that followed.
Let me share recent comments made by Noriko, our leader in Japan. I am overwhelmed by the aftershocks which have lasted for a month. The metrological agency warns that there will still be big aftershocks. I am concerned about the nuclear reactor in Fukushima, which is located next to our prefecture. I pray for protection. It is difficult to sleep at night. Lifestyle has changed. Spring has come to Japan. Usually we go out to enjoy the cherry blossoms, but this year I did not have that kind of cheerful desire.
While we have heard that our Aglow women in Japan are okay, many of them have lost much. Please continue to uphold our dear Aglow sisters and the people of Japan as they walk through this difficult time. The comfort of Jeremiah 29 speaks to our hearts; for I know the thoughts that I think toward you….to give you a future and a hope.
The Year 2011
As I looked to the Lord for direction the first part of 2011, I felt He spoke a couple of things to my heart for the Aglow ministry. Let me share them.
When my watch stopped at 5:10 just before the New Year, I began looking up scriptures related to these numbers and 1 of the scriptures that really spoke to me was in II Kings 5. Naaman, commander of the Syrian army, was seeking healing for his leprosy. The king of Syria had sent a letter to the king of Israel, advising that Naaman, his servant, was being sent to Israel so that he might be healed. The king of Israel was distraught. But the response of Elisha was, Let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. The prophetic word was spoken to Naaman that he was to go wash in the Jordan 7 times and his flesh would be restored clean.
I felt the Lord speak 2 things to my heart from this scripture. First, a greater prophetic voice would come through Aglow. Secondly, a healing ministry would also come through Aglow that would have freshness on it. We should not look for things to come in an old way. We should expect a fresh new way. This will be a time for us to be surprised by how God shows up in both prophecy and healing in 2011!
Eight years ago, at our 2003 Worldwide Conference, a definite and profound prophetic shift took place in Aglow. Since that time, we have been walking out that shift. There have been accompanying words spoken over Aglow confirming greater vision and purpose. We have all been so keenly aware of walking into an upgrade.
Just as Elisha released the prophetic word through Israel, I encourage you to expect and release a fresh prophetic flow from within yourself and within your area of ministry in Aglow. Be bold in releasing and expecting a fresh flow of healing. Step out in faith, expecting the miraculous to take place. Don’t hold back.
Aglow 2011 Worldwide Conference
This year is the 38th Aglow conference. The number 38 stands for slavery or enslavement. John 5 speaks of a man who had been lying by the pool of Bethesda for 38 years. He was enslaved in an infirm body and had waited expectantly each year for the stirring of the water so that he might be healed. Then, Jesus came on the scene asking the man, Do you want to be made well? The infirm man’s response was that he had no one to put him into the pool when the water was stirred. He was looking for healing in the old way. Jesus simply said, Rise, take up your bed and walk. The new had come!
Even as Jesus came with the new, we must break away from the old way of doing things and embrace the new. Who we were in the last season is not who we are in the new season. God has a new way for us and I believe this conference will be an ongoing expression of all that is new and fresh. As we continue to walk towards our future, I believe it is imperative that you make plans to be in Houston. God stands in our future calling us to move into His prophesied place for us. We cannot walk in old ways down new paths.
The theme: A SOUND FROM THE NATIONS
The dates: September 29-October 2, 2011
The place: George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston Texas
Board of Directors Meeting & Decisions
Our International Board of Directors met in March at the Worldwide Headquarters. I always love being part of these meetings. It is a pleasure to be able to gather with women from the nations as we pray and seek God’s direction for Aglow in the coming year. There is always such a unity of spirit that is so precious as we seek God together for Aglow. I want to share some updates with you regarding some decisions that were made in relation to Aglow’s future.
The Abuse of Women & Children
A year or so ago I read a book called Half the Sky. Several of the Leadership Team here at Headquarters read it as well. There began to be a deep stirring in my heart regarding the issues involving the brutality inflicted on women and girls in much of the world. These issues are gaining recognition as one of the greatest problems of this century. They are very much akin to the issue of slavery that William Wilberforce fought to abolish in the late 1700’s. There are literally millions who are being abused, trafficked, and coerced into various types of enslavement with no way out of their situation. We, Aglow, must make a stand.
It was decided that: Aglow International will pursue all avenues that address the issues of enslavement, oppression and abuse of people, such as human trafficking, female genital mutilation (FGM), and forced labor.
At the very heart of Aglow’s vision is the setting free of captives from the depths of hurt and pain, and bringing oppressed people into the liberating news of the gospel as said in Luke 4:18-19.
We are beginning to explore the possible direction this will take, by looking at the general guidelines that will be needed for this huge task. I will keep you apprised and updated of where we are going with this. Please wait for further instruction.
Israel Education Director
Sandy Wezowicz, current director of the New England Region, has been asked to serve as Israel Education Director. Sandy has been serving as Watchman on the Wall Director and will continue to provide these valuable seminars. In her new role, Sandy will research and prepare information related to Israel, the Jewish people, anti-Semitism, replacement theology, Palestinian theology, and long standing issues in the Middle East. Sandy is a gifted teacher/speaker with a passion for Israel and will be an able educator on these issues. She will be resigning her position as U.S. Regional Director in the near future.
As President/CEO, I will continue to give overall vision and direction to the Israel Mandate just as I currently do for Islam and Male/Female reconciliation.
Diane Moder continues to serve as Islam Awareness and Education Director. She continues to provide educational materials, both within the Aglow ministry and well beyond. She is looking for new ways to communicate the message via different media venues. A DVD released in the fall of 2010, Islam in the United States, has valuable information that everyone should be aware of. You can order this DVD to show at your retreats, Lighthouse and Area meetings, and churches.
As we have seen God expand the ministry in greater ways to include men, it was the consensus of the IBOD that the time has come to amend the language of the Aglow Constitution to include women and men. When that is completed, we will notify you and you will be able to find the new constitution, just as you can find it now, on our website.
Advisors – Male & Female
Aglow has always believed that male advisors bring an important perspective to the ministry. As we walk into this new era of watching the Male/Female Mandate unfold before us, we felt that it was time to look again at the issue of female advisors. As a result, it was decided that a combination of female and male advisors may be appointed by each National Board, Area Team and Lighthouse Team under the guidelines approved by the Board of Directors. Use the current advisor policy in the Digest and Handbooks for each nation. We believe that both male and female advisors will bring an important perspective to the ministry.
Like male advisors, female advisors do not have to be pastors, but can be a woman in your community with wisdom, integrity and the Spirit of the Lord.
We are in the final stages of rebuilding aglow.org. Under the oversight of Rick Allen, Creative Services Director, the new site will have a fresh new look and incorporate improved functionality such as online shopping, translations, discussion boards and better access to news stories. We are excited about the launching of this new site, April 28, 2011.
The Creative Services Office is also currently working on a complete redesign of Aglow’s presence on Facebook. The potential for reaching today’s culture through social media is amazing. Please be praying with us as we continue to move towards maximizing these opportunities. I will have a new Fan Page coming soon on Facebook. If you have been on my group page, you will be invited to go to my new fan page and click “like” to become a part. We will let you know when the fan page is up and running and I invite you all to join me there.
New Worldwide Leadership Materials
New leadership materials have been developed covering the Majesty of God, Sound, and Dominion. Area and National leaders can access the materials by signing into MyAglow and clicking on the Worldwide Leadership Development Materials tab.
Since the close of last year, 5 pieces on Majesty, 2 on Sound, and 2 on Dominion have been developed to assist Area and National Teams as they speak the language of the new season during annual leadership development events. Each piece is available in English, Spanish, and French. Check each month for a new set of materials.
Generations Project Seattle
We are extremely excited about the Generations Project group that has formed here at our Worldwide Headquarters with the young people in our office. We have 9 under 30 years of age and they have been working over the last several months to become a Generations Group. They are doing exciting outreaches and will be producing resources to help you reach the young people in your communities. Watch and expect creative things that will be coming in the next few months.
Lina Thurston of Chile has served on the IBOD for many years and has been a much loved member of that Board. Lina is experiencing health issues and will no longer be serving the ministry in this capacity. Please keep her in your prayers as she valiantly walks this journey towards healing.
Just as Jesus went to John the Baptist asking to be baptized as He was entering a new season, I am asking the Holy Spirit for a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit to come upon Aglow. Expect to see the lost drawn to your meetings. Expect to see broken hearts made whole. Expect to see your community transformed. The old, dead religious system and its emptiness has been exposed and the freshness of the Kingdom is at hand. Walk in it each day and carry the majesty of His Presence everywhere you go. The Spirit of the Lord is upon you and He has anointed YOU for this day. I believe we all need it for this new season. My heart cries out for it – so expect it – its coming!
Jane Hansen Hoyt
P.S. I am so grateful for all the ways you continue to support the Aglow vision and outreach into the world. Throughout our 43 years of ministry, God has touched thousands upon thousands of lives with the power of His love and restoration. Will you please consider giving an additional gift this Easter season to be a part of keeping the miracle alive as we stretch our arms even further?
Dear Aglow Family,
The story of the water being turned into wine in John 2 represents, in its own way, a transitional time in history. Jesus had not yet manifested Himself as the Messiah and had not revealed His glory.
When they ran out of wine at the wedding celebration, the mother of Jesus asked Him to intervene. Evidently, she sensed a stirring in her heart in relation to the timing of this manifestation. In fact, she encouraged the servants saying, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” She did not seem put off by her son’s quiet rebuke, “Woman what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
However, because of Jesus’ response we know a shift had taken place in the spiritual atmosphere. He moved seamlessly into action even though He had just told His mother, “The time is not right.”
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the water pots with water.” And, they filled them to the brim. Then He directed them to, “Draw some out NOW, and take it to the master of the feast.” Can you imagine the quickening heartbeat of those servants as they watched the master of the feast taking his first taste of what they thought to be water? The first words of the master to the bridegroom were, “You have kept the good wine until now!”
This was the beginning of the signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and hence, a transitional time in history. Nothing would ever be the same. In fact, we are still talking about that miracle today and considering with amazement what Jesus was able to do. Truly, nothing has been the same since.
A Current Day Transitional Time
I believe we have been in another transitional time in history; one that began with the turning of the century. Something shifted as we entered the year 2000. Let me quote from my 2000 conference message.
We have entered a 3rd day season. We are coming into a 3rd day fruitfulness that is going to astound and amaze us. I went on to say, Every new dimension in God requires a new consecration of ourselves. It requires a new altar.
Transitional times are tough. Transitional times can be stressful. What we have known is going to be tested because God wants to take us to another level. The Word says of the Israelites, “The day they ate of the new land, the old provision stopped.”
God had more for them. Yet, the manna that had dropped daily from heaven ceased. Adjustments were necessary. Ways of thinking, speaking, and believing had to shift. The land of promise, the place they had transitioned into, would be a place of milk and honey.
Come Up Higher
In the middle of a crisis there is always an invitation to go up higher. God is taking Aglow higher. He has spoken profound prophetic words to us in many and varied ways. Yet, we find ourselves in a financial shortfall.
As it is with most ministries, the current economic climate has brought with it a downturn in donations. Aglow has had to lay off needed staff, cut costs in drastic ways, and take huge steps to reduce expenditures. As a ministry, we have always budgeted conservatively and spent carefully so that the ministry could continue to move forward in the nations God has given us. But, these past 18 months have been very difficult.
Let me share with you some of the steps we have been forced to take this year and last:
- Asked the building owner to reduce our rent several thousand dollars per month
- Laid off needed staff
- Cut the salaries of the Headquarters Leadership Team
- Cut a portion of program staff positions from full time to half time
- Reduced or eliminated working funds to leaders in over 75 nations
- Cut every department’s budget, some by half. (We already function with a very slim margin.)
- Cancelled the International Board of Directors meeting because of the expense of international travel. Instead, we called together a committee of three on the board to make working decisions, to be approved by the full board via e-mail or conference call.
A New Wine Offering
Today, I am writing to ask if every one of you will help us fill the pots with water so that God can turn the water into wine...the best wine. We currently need $250,000 by March 31, 2010 in order to end our fiscal year in the black.
No Ordinary Plea
We are living in extraordinary times and extraordinary measures are needed. This is no ordinary plea. I am asking every member, officer and friend of Aglow to help this ministry continue in the race that He has set before us.
Will you join with me in increasing your level of giving in 2010?
- Make a onetime personal gift to “fill the pot.”
- Begin or increase your monthly giving.
- Give a gift from your nation, region, area or local treasury.
Your International Board of Directors and Headquarters Leadership Team have all signified they are in unity and oneness of spirit about staying the course with what God has spoken to this ministry, and will continue to walk by faith.
Every new dimension in God requires a new consecration of ourselves. It requires a new altar.
We know He has saved the best wine until last. In the words of Mary, Whatever He says to you, do it!
Jane Hansen Hoyt
Aglow has a destiny
We corporately and individually stepped into our destiny in Milwaukee at the North America Conference, Sept 28-Oct 1. Aglow’s destiny is established.
As Aglow International, we are a people with a great calling, a great future, a great destiny, simply because it was and is God’s plan and purpose. Ours is a destiny so deep in the heart of God that time, obstacles, or winds of change are not able to extinguish it or discourage us.
We are to be light in the darkness; hope for the hopeless; His hand extended to a hurting world. Our destiny is upon us and we say “YES” to the Living God.
What is destiny?
Destiny, defined as “moving towards a purposed end,” is a matter of CHOICE, not chance.
It is a thing to be STEPPED INTO, not waited for.
In Milwaukee, the conference theme was Destiny. While in that city, the ongoing REALITY OF OUR DESTINY was unfolding before us and we aligned ourselves with God through prophetic and practical actions. Today I want to give you an opportunity to align with us if you were not at conference by responding to this letter. If you were at conference, you can strengthen and affirm your alignment by also responding.
Here are some words of wisdom:
Watch your thoughts, for thoughts become words.
Watch your words, for words become actions.
Watch your actions, for actions become habits, and habits become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
A shift has taken place. The forces of evil are loud and belligerent—like Goliath the giant, hurling his taunts at the armies of Israel. But a shift has taken place in the divine realm also. We have been positioned for this moment; this season. The David in us has arisen. We are armed and dangerous!
You carry the destiny of your nation.
Last year, Asher Intrater from Jerusalem told us that every nation has two groups of people: The general population, which is seen by God as rebellious to His authority, and the second group, “the remnant,” the true followers of Jesus. The spiritual destiny of a nation is carried by the remnant of believers in that nation. You represent the true destiny of your nation, whether it is the United States, Canada, or whatever your nation is. God looks to the remnant who are the bearers of the national destiny and spiritual purpose of every single nation.
It is the struggle between the positive divine destiny and the negative demonic destiny that constitutes the battle; the spiritual warfare. This is the battle we find ourselves engaged in, but He has made us ready for the battle. The very opposition that God has allowed to come into our lives, or the things that the enemy has brought to our doorsteps, we have allowed to strengthen us, to shape us, to bring us forth in a new victory, in a new strength. We have crossed the threshold into victory. Though we may fall, we will rise with new strength.
A shift has taken place.
God has positioned Aglow and women for this hour. We have felt a shift in the natural, physical forces of the world and in this ministry. The very thing the enemy feared, the very thing he was trying to take out of us, God has built within us with new strength, new vigor, new power, and new authority. Women are arising in this hour.
Alistair Petrie, one of our wonderful anointed speakers in Milwaukee, told us that many of the leaders he knows around the globe are very conscious of the shift that is taking place and we, as believers, need to be in place by the end of the year. He said we need to position ourselves with our destiny; align ourselves with God and the destiny God has for Aglow. We must step into the process of transformation. He said that we may not know our whole destiny, but we need to get into alignment with it anyway.
Alistair went on to say, “God knows what is written in our lives, for us, about us, around us. Somebody needs to take the time and the tenacity to draw down on to the earthly plain what rightfully belongs to them—to their family, their ministry, their business, their city, their nation.”
In Milwaukee, we had the chance to “draw down onto the earthly plain what belongs to us”. We gave financially “to the war effort,” including filling bushel baskets with money. The result was the highest level of individual giving in the history of an Aglow conference. We “stepped into our destiny.” We “marched in review” as the army of women dedicated to God and to Aglow. And, if you’ve seen the conference photos on our website, you see that we also “danced into our 40th anniversary year.” The whole conference experience was rich with eternal prophetic and apostolic meaning and significance.
At the Aglow Worldwide Headquarters, we are taking serious steps to align ourselves with God’s plan by the end of the year. The last 3 “new hires” at Headquarters are women in their 20s. We are stepping into our destiny.
Align yourself by the end of the year.
I don’t want you to be left behind. The army of Aglow is on the move. You need to be on the move too. You can begin by standing up and making a verbal statement to God that you align yourself with Him to step into your personal destiny and the destiny of Aglow.
During past World Wars, citizens made financial commitments to strengthen the war effort. Going to war takes finances, resources, materials. A sure way for an army to experience defeat is to use up its armaments, outdistance its supply lines, and run short of what it needs to keep fighting the enemy. I’m asking you to align yourself with God by giving a significant financial gift to this ministry so we can align ourselves with our destiny by the end of 2006.
I’m also asking you to align yourself with God by renewing your Covenant Partnership, or by becoming a Covenant Partner if you are not one now. We have a beautiful commemorative 2007 40th Anniversary Covenant Partner card for you when you renew or join. If membership is offered in your nation, please be sure you support that as well, but you are also invited to become a 40th Anniversary Worldwide Covenant Partner. You can renew your Partnership of join for the first time by going to our Covenant Partnership page.
We have exciting things happening in Aglow. Part of our destiny includes legions of young women becoming a part of the ministry and adding their spark and sparkle to our lives. We saw them at conference. We also heard and accepted the challenge Reverend Glen Forrest of Canada gave us to “each one bring a young woman to our 40th Anniversary Conference in Seattle, Sept 20-23, 2007.” With invited speakers like Lou Engle, Che Ah, Robert Stearns, Barbara Yoder, and Chuck Pierce and worship leaders like Ron Kenoly, Robert Stearns, Don Potter, Julie Meyer, and our own Ruth Collingridge—everyone will experience the presence of the Lord in very special ways!
And... when you come to Seattle next year, you can visit the Aglow Worldwide Headquarters as one of the “conference tours” of the host city! Virtual tours are nice, but “boots on the ground” are the best!
The Aglow Army is on the move
Between now and the beginning of 2007, many significant things are happening. Evangeline Weiner has accepted a position at Aglow and will be working with us to raise up youth and young women. At 22, she brings experience and wisdom beyond her years. As the daughter of Bob Weiner of Bob Weiner Ministries, founder of Maranatha Ministries, Evangeline has traveled and ministered in over 32 nations and preached with leaders like Rick Joyner, Rodney Howard Brown, Cindy Jacobs and Gary and Lelo Keller of Switzerland. She just graduated from the University of Washington, where she is a Campus Evangelist for City Church of Kirkland, WA. In her spare time she has written a book entitled The Calling of a Generation which will be released this winter. We are very excited about having Evangeline on our team.
Another significant event is the appointment of Sandy Wezowicz, U.S. Regional Director for New England, as the Aglow Watchmen on the Wall Program Director. This program, based on Isaiah 62:6-7, is a part of our call to Israel and is designed to accomplish two things: to raise up passionate intercessors for Israel, and to create informed, articulate ambassadors who will lift their voices in support of Israel in the public forums in their nations.
The original Watchmen on the Walls program created by Robert Stearns of Eagles Wings has been adapted for Aglow’s use, and consists of two parts. The first is a seminar with a teaching a manual for prospective “Watchmen.” The second is a prayer pilgrimage to Israel as a part of an Aglow tour during which individual “Watchmen” are commissioned by members of the Knesset and pray in the land.
Seminars are currently scheduled in the U.S. for January 12-13, 2007 in Lowell, MA; Feb 23-24, 2007, in Charlottesville, VA, March 9-10 in the Great Lakes Region, location TBD; and April 13-14, 2007 in California, city TBD. Registration will be conducted on line on the Aglow Web site, with the fee also to-be-determined. Commissioning will take place during our May 14-27, 2007 trip to Israel—options, prices, and further information also to be forthcoming. A seminar open to international as well as U.S. women is scheduled for September 23-24, 2007, after our 40th Anniversary conference in Seattle, Washington.
Together we’re moving into our 40th year, aligned, united, prayed up, obedient and humble at the great legacy we have in Christ Jesus. It’s our hour! It’s our day! We were made for such a time as this!
Love and blessings,
Jane Hansen Hoyt
What an exciting time to be a believer in the God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph 3:20). What an opportune time to bring a radiant testimony of the God we serve! He is teaching us what it means to live heaven-to-earth. He is forming something new in us.
The things that are taking place today are bringing us into significant alignment with heaven. Get excited! Worship more. Celebrate His goodness because every test and trial you experience is designed to show the superior power of Almighty God over an enemy that has been defeated. You are testimony to that!
My Testimony… Peace In The Midst Of the Storm
Just this past November I heard the Lord speak so clearly to me saying, “Let not your heart be troubled. Believe!” At the time I heard Him encouraging me to believe, I was considering the economic crisis the world is facing. I was thinking of the things we read and hear daily on the news so it made sense to me. “Let not your heart be troubled. Believe!” Little did I know the journey awaiting me or how my faith would be tested. Believe indeed!
Shortly after being encouraged by the Lord to believe, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went to the doctor thinking, “It’s nothing.” And the doctor said, “It’s nothing.” But then they did a biopsy, and it came back positive.
From the moment I heard the diagnosis of earth, a peace enveloped me. I was not afraid. I wasn’t trying to not be afraid. I wasn’t trying to be strong. I merely chose what I was going to believe. God’s word to me had been, “Let not your heart be troubled. (Don’t be troubled by what you hear. Don’t be troubled by the biopsy.) Believe.” We’re either going to live by the truth of heaven or by what earth declares over us.
I believe God above everything. I said to my daughter, Lisa, “I’m not in denial, but this disease has no place in me. It’s out of place in my body.” I had a choice. Where was I going to live? What was I going to believe? My life is in Him. I’m seated with Him in heavenly places. We’re not in denial. We are walking in truth and light. We are believers. It is our nature.
Each of you reading this letter could tell a story of stress or difficulty you have experienced. It’s the way of life. But God is calling out a people for Himself -- a people who will bring a radiant idea of who He is into the earth.
In Graham Cooke’s book, Qualities of a Spiritual Warrior, he states:
Every situation has been designed for us to discover God’s Presence and find appropriate access, using our circumstances. Confidence in His nature is our entry point…. The weapons of a warrior are essentially peaceful, untroubled and calm…. We overthrow by being overwhelmed (with the goodness of God.)
(Used by permission, Graham Cooke, © 2007, www.brilliantbookhouse.com.)
I have been overwhelmed, personally, with the goodness of God. I am here to bring a radiant testimony of the God I serve. He spoke to me through Psalm 33:
The Lord looks after those who fear Him, those who put their hope in His love. He saves them from death and spares their lives in times of hunger. (New Century Version)
At the direction of the Lord, I kept my situation contained to a few intercessors who prayed militant prayers on my behalf. We have worshipped more than we have prayed for health. We have celebrated His goodness throughout the process. We have come through on the side of victory.
After two surgeries, I have come through with a clean bill of health and no further treatment is needed.
Six weeks following the two surgeries I traveled to Europe to speak at two conferences. One in the Netherlands and the other in Norway. I was in France (May 1-3) speaking at another Aglow national conference. I Believe!
When God says that there will be none feeble leaving our conferences…I BELIEVE. We are coming into a time of increased revelation. This is a time to not be troubled. It is a time to BELIEVE in the God we say we trust. He is pressing us into a place of divine discovery. It is an exciting time to be alive.
It is a Time to Live Prepared
Over the years Aglow has ministered through disaster relief in wars, floods, fires, tsunamis, earthquakes, and hurricanes. About a year and a half ago, we began a program of emergency preparedness in the United States in which state coordinators help people prepare their families and neighborhoods for a disaster. Interested individuals have also taken training to become certified to “go behind the yellow line” to provide help and comfort to victims and emergency responders in actual disasters. We at our Worldwide Headquarters have prepared for a possible damaging earthquake and we have “off site” capability to carry on with the ministry should Seattle be hit.
And God has also prepared us in the spirit for the times we are currently living in. He has said that the darkness would grow darker, but the light would become brighter. We are seeing it come to pass. I have been reminded and blessed once again by the story of Joseph, a man who turned adversity into an opportunity for blessing.
For some time, I have had the sense that we like Joseph, need to prepare to be used in a similar way. With the current indicators of the signs of the times, it could well be a time to lay up provision for what might lie ahead for yourself and your family. Let me suggest some possible ways:
- Plant a garden this year.
- Cut every overhead expense that will keep you caught in an old, broken economic system.
- Have some cash on hand, as well as food, water, medical supplies, and firewood.
And above all… BELIEVE.
We are Believing at Worldwide Headquarters
As so many ministries are doing, Aglow has also had to take measures to reduce expenses, including laying off staff and reducing work hours and salaries. It is with a saddened heart we had to let go of some quality people.
Please keep these former staff members in your prayers as they seek new places of employment. They were valuable to Aglow and to God’s kingdom and we know God will direct them in the days ahead.
Since we had to cut working funds to the nations last year, we have seen many nations coming alongside sister nations to help fund the work. We have also seen purposeful ideas to become more self sufficient come from leaders in some of those nations who had been dependent on working funds. God is our source and we look forward to the fulfillment of the word that we received at the 2008 conference in Washington, D.C. that God is moving us from a place of having our needs met to a place of abundance. Will you believe with us for abundance?
In the midst of these challenges, we are doing everything we know to do to keep moving towards our destiny and future. We are filled with faith and expectancy. Every difficult time is part of the process of moving us from one place to another in order to see His kingdom manifest on earth. I would encourage you to continue to sow your seed into the Kingdom ministry of Aglow. It is not a time to pull back, but to thrust forward. Personally, I have increased what I give to Aglow each month.
Graham Cooke Believes in Aglow!
Let me quote Graham Cooke again, from the dedication of his latest book, Coming Into Alignment, from The Way of the Warrior series. He dedicated this book to Aglow and to all of you who have “faithfully served, women, who by their dedication and commitment have interceded for the church and the Kingdom. Without them we would not have gotten this far!”
What a statement about you! What a treasure you are. What a statement about the work GOD chose to establish in the earth nearly 42 years ago. Thank you for your ongoing faithfulness.
Promise Keepers Believes Aglow International is a Key Partner
In another exciting event, I have been invited to be the first woman keynote speaker at the Promise Keepers’ 20th anniversary stadium event July 31-Aug 1, 2009. I will be speaking on Friday evening, July 31, where PK began at Folsom Field on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, CO. They are expecting 50,000 men and women and Aglow has been invited to partner with Promise Keepers in this effort to honor women, modeling men and women working together as God intended. This is Promise Keepers’ only 2009 event, “A Time to Honor.” This is their first open invitation to women.
“This year we are calling men to bring the women in their lives,” said Bill McCartney, founder and chairman of Promise Keepers. “We are called to do three things: honor our wives, daughters, and sisters, be a tangible blessing to the poor and oppressed, and embrace our Messianic Jewish brothers as our spiritual fathers in the faith.”
You will be hearing more about this event and Aglow’s involvement in it soon on www.aglow.org. For now, mark your calendar with the date and plan to attend with your spouse. I have been working on a new, updated manuscript of the male/female message and plan to have this book completed in time for this conference. We see this opportunity as a major move forward in God’s plan for gender reconciliation.
Aglow and Men: A Mission Statement Update
For the past several years, we have watched and prayed as men’s Aglow groups have sprung up spontaneously in several nations including the U.S. Their common desire was to seek the same spiritual intimacy with the Father, and with each other, that they saw reflected in Aglow women. We believe Aglow for Men is God’s loving response to the heartfelt needs of men and we welcome this recent move.
Therefore, when our International Board of Directors met in March, a decision was made to change the first bullet of the Mission Statement to include men. It will now read:
- To help restore and mobilize women and men around the world.
As you can see from the Promise Keepers’ unprecedented event this summer, God is moving quickly on men and women to come together side by side. It is the only way we will take dominion on the earth as His bride. We ask that you commit to pray not only for this event, but for God’s unfolding purpose to be so resident in our hearts that we are able to move with Him joyfully through any shift He ordains for Aglow.
A Believing Word About Aglow in Israel
I had the sense for many months that God is wanting to do something different related to Israel. We have so enjoyed our annual trips, yet many of us felt the stirrings of change. As the economic downturn impacted the number of participants, we received this as God’s nudge to cancel the 2009 trip in anticipation of His revealing to us how we are to walk with Israel in this new season.
As I have said before, at the center of God’s plan stand His covenant people and His covenant land. It is essential that we understand and call forth the ancient prophecies and promises related to the critically decisive role Israel plays in God’s end-time purposes.
Believe for Our Worldwide Conference!
Last but certainly not least, I want to invite you to join me and thousands of our Aglow friends and family from around the world in Louisville. Kentucky, Oct 22-25. We received a revolutionary word at last year’s U.S. conference and our 2009 speakers are coming with the word of the Lord. These are men and women of God who hear timely messages for this pivotal hour. This is not a conference to miss. This is a time we need to prepare our hearts and join them together to receive vision for the days ahead. It is a time to grow closer to Jesus than ever before. It is time to bring forth in the earth a radiant testimony of the God we serve.

In His love and mine,
Dear Aglow Family,
I am still in awe of the powerful word God spoke to this ministry through the mouth of Asher Intrater. Asher had just finished his first message as a speaker for our 2009 Worldwide Conference when he called me to join him. He delivered the word and then extended an invitation to respond. Those attending the conference flooded the front and filled the aisles in a positive response.
Later, as I watched the end of that session on DVD with the leadership team at the Worldwide Headquarters, I found myself responding again to the Lord’s desire and purpose for each one of us in Aglow. The significance of this word is vital to our future as a unified army of Esthers, it needs to be shared in its entirety with every member of Aglow worldwide. Below you will find the word to Aglow and my prayer response in Aglow’s behalf.
Word to Aglow through Asher Intrater
Jane, come up for a moment. I just have a word of prophecy here. There is an anointing upon Jane and upon all of Aglow to carry the mantle and the image of Queen Esther. Esther went through three stages and Jane I speak this over you and over all of Aglow. I want all of you to receive this.
Three Stages of Esther’s Bridal Journey
The first stage is bridal intimacy with the King; one with God, worshipping Him. I pray and prophesy and bless you Jane, and all of Aglow, that you have that mantle of queenly, bridal intimacy with the King in worship.
But then she (Esther) went into a second stage where she was challenged to fight the End Times battle of the antichrist and save the Jewish people. She knew she had Jewish roots before that, but didn’t want to talk about it. She prayed and fasted and said yes, Lord, I will. And you, Jane, and you, all of Aglow, you’ve been called for such a time as this, to stand up and be the End-Times-interceding Esther church to tear down the antichrist, and to stand with Israel through the battles of the End Times.
Tonight I want to bless you and pray for you and prophesy over you that you will go on to the third stage, and this is tonight’s message: After that she (Esther) took up her place to rule and reign together [with her King] over this planet. She took up a mantle of authority, of government, of the Kingdom of God. Lord I pray for this three-fold cord blessing over Jane, over all of Aglow: The bridal intimacy of Esther; fighting the battles of the End Times, tearing down the antichrist and standing with the people of Israel through the End Times. And thirdly, walking out in royalty and taking up a position of ruling and reining [in] the government and the Kingdom of God: Heaven and earth joined together.
I want to pray these 3 questions that I ask for you. God I ask You to make this happen, Lord. Don’t let this just be a prayer or a teaching, Lord. I’m asking You to transfer this mantle, this authority, this destiny right now to Aglow, Lord. If I never do anything else in my life, Lord God, may this transfer happen right now. Lord Jesus, You’ve been waiting for a bride to be ready, to be co-warriors on earth with your warriors in heaven, and I say to You, Lord, here they are. They are volunteering, Lord. They’re enlisting. Father, I pray that right now this would be the beginning of Revelation 19:7 coming true, and the bride is making herself ready to receive Jesus and His army to come back, Lord. These men, these women, are standing before You, Jesus and saying, “We are ready to believe! We are ready to receive! We are ready to invite! We are ready to invade! We are ready to take possession! We are ready to fight together with You, Jesus! Your army and our army together, we are ready!”
And Father, I pray for it to spread from this group, this conference, out to all the Aglow chapters and to the body of Christ worldwide. That the body of Christ, the bride of Christ internationally, would begin to be ready to receive the Commander of the armies of the Lord of Hosts to return! Hallelujah.
Secondly Lord, I pray over Aglow just as Gabriel spoke over Mary, and said that the Spirit of the Lord and the Power of the Lord will come upon you, and something will be born of you that will release the Kingdom of God into this earth. I pray Lord, not just the Mary of Bethany anointing, but Mary -- Miriam (“Mary” in Hebrew), the mother of Yeshua, to intercede as she interceded to bring Yeshua into the earth the first time. You will receive the power of the Holy Spirit to bring Him into the earth the second time. I pray for the Spirit and the power of the Lord to come upon you as it came upon Miriam, and you will become pregnant with the vision of the Kingdom of God invading this earth. You will become pregnant, not with the first coming of Jesus, but with the second coming of Jesus.
I pray this over you, I bless this over you, and I prophesy this over you right now. Like the Angel Gabriel I say, “May the power and the Spirit of the Lord come upon you! And you will give birth to something that is of Almighty God.”
And I pray this, Father, to spread to Aglow chapters in 170 nations, that there’s going to be thousands and thousands of Aglow chapters interceding, giving birth in the spirit, groaning and interceding until Jesus comes back to this planet!
And excuse me for the physicality of this parable, but as Mary’s womb had to be stretched open to get Jesus into this planet, the womb of your faith is going to be stretched. It’s going to be stretched so wide open that millions of warrior angels are going to come invading out of heaven through you, through your faith, through your womb of intercession, and take possession of this earth!
Praying the Protection of Joseph
And I pray over you like Joseph, the adopting father of Jesus, who, God told, “Look, the powers of this world are trying to kill Mary. Get her over here; move her over there; move her over there.” And I pray for you as you accept this anointing; the devil is going to try to kill you, because this is what he doesn’t want. And I pray right now over you, a protection like Joseph. Mary was the hero, not Joseph. You’re the hero, not me. I want to pray for your protection and say the devil will not get to you, by dreams, by directions, by angels; you will be protected until this vision comes to pass.
Transferring the Mantle to Aglow
And the last thing, I want to give you this mantle. I would be lying to you if I would tell you this wasn’t on me. I tell you the truth, it’s too heavy. I’m asking you to take it. Jesus said, blessed are the meek because they will take possession of planet earth. And I want to give you the End Times mantle of Joshua, that you will take dominion over this planet. That you will go out and repossess the earth, that you will take dominion over it in the authority and in the name of Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, the Creator, the Owner, the Conqueror. I’m asking you, Aglow, to take this mantle; to take dominion and repossess planet earth, men and women taking dominion over the planet.
Israel and the Church agreeing together to covenant to take this planet, and then rebuking the spirits of the UN, of Islam, of everything that is saying, that piece of property [Israel] doesn’t belong to Jesus.
This is the end of the game, ladies and gentlemen. We’re not going to settle for anything less are we? We talked today about proclaiming and believing and prophesying. If we’re going to proclaim and believe and prophesy, let’s just go for the whole thing. Jesus comes back, the devil is kicked off, and we, together with Him, take dominion over this planet again! Hallelujah!!! Hallelujah!!! Come Lord Jesus! May Your kingdom come, may Your will be done on this earth as it is in heaven! Come Lord Jesus! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
My Prayer Response to God’s Call
God, today, we acknowledge, just as Mary did, that You have imparted something into this ministry that You intend to bring forth in real life in the earth. Your word of promise has come that we will be protected until this vision is fulfilled. But part of protection is provision. God as we move about, heavy with child, I am asking, I am proclaiming, I am declaring, that provision, Your provision, is ours. That you will give us what we need to survive and not just survive, but thrive. You will give us that provision.
I ask that You bring forth a united company of Marys; that all vain arguments and conflicts that bring division and take up our time, our strength, and our energy will be cut free from this ministry. That those who cannot walk with us will go in a direction that they feel they can follow and will not distract or delay what You are doing.
We are at a place where we need to give ourselves to this; we feel like this is our destiny, it’s our purpose. And we need help with even articulating this to the field in a way that rallies people, in a way that brings greater revelation and greater understanding.
I feel like it was Jehosophat who said, “I don’t know what to do, but my eye is upon You.” And we can say the same thing. We don’t know what to do but our eye is upon You. We want to be delivered of this life that is within us. We want to carry it joyfully, deliberately, in a strong way. But we need You to come and turn the water into wine. The wine of the old season has run out. That wine no longer has life in it. It’s gone. So as we have poured water into the pots, doing what we know to do, I’m asking You to come and miraculously change our puny efforts of water into wine (John 2).
I think of Nonnie (McVeigh, president of Aglow Britain) saying to me that she’s just listening to this call over and over and over again, just saturating herself in what was spoken. I pray that [saturation] is multiplied across the face of the earth; that we take seriously what happened at our conference, that it not dissipate, but it grow in strength and life. We cut off confusion, dissention that comes through voices, arguments that come through people, all the fleshly things that come to wear down the saints. I speak a falling away to anything that distracts and detracts from the central thing.
We just focus and center on the beauty of our relationship with You and we say, You are so beautiful to us. We thank You for what You’re doing and how You’re drawing our hearts and speaking into our hearts, focusing us, and, like Mary we say, give unto us according to Your word. Thank You, Lord. Heal our bodies, lift weariness, lift discouragement, lift stress, for the battle is not ours, it is Yours. We don’t pick up our war weapons and try to fight a battle that we will surely lose. We welcome You in to fight the battle, to bring forth in the earth fully what you intend, in us and in Aglow. And everybody said, Amen.
As the understanding of this significant word continues to unfold, we put our trust completely in God, knowing that He who has called us is more than enough to bring His word to completion.
In His love and mine,
P.S. Just as those in attendance when this word was given were invited to come forward to indicate their willingness to accept this impartation from God, I want to give you a similar opportunity.
If you are also willing to allow God to use you to be an avenue of protective provision for this ministry as we move into the fulfillment of this vision, indicate below. Together, we will become the company of Marys that will give birth to the release of the Kingdom of God.

Greetings in the name of Jesus!
Recently, I have felt I wanted to write to you in regards to the prophetic words Aglow receives.
Prophecy in Balance
I believe that the prophetic words spoken over Aglow come, not as independent “truth” but as words of acknowledgement for what God has already raised up in His women, as well as words of confirmation to our own spirits as we continue to move forward with God’s call on this ministry.
Let me say, however, that Aglow does not, nor has it ever based its ministry solely on prophetic words. Yet, prophetic words have come to us from the very beginning, often in conference settings.
At our 2009 worldwide conference in Louisville, Kentucky, our speaker Asher Intrater brought us a powerful word about becoming “a company of Marys” who would be used to help bring forth the 2nd coming of Jesus. Initially, the understanding of this word has caused confusion among some, a confusion I hope to clarify in this letter.
I worked in registration during Aglow’s first international conference held in Seattle in 1974.I remember even then the prophetic nature of the ministry of Dr. Pat Robertson and Dr. Jack Hayford, both of whom were speakers that year. They remain friends of Aglow to this day.
Interestingly, Dr. Hayford spoke on “The Mary Miracle.” It was a powerful word about God using the womb of Mary to bring His son to earth. It was linked with the womb of our spirit also being used to bring forth Jesus in the earth through our faith and intercession. When I speak of the “womb of our spirit,” we understand that it is genderless and refers to the Bride of Christ, male and female.
I view Asher Intrater’s “Mary” word to us at last year’s conference as a powerful confirmation of Dr. Hayford’s word 25 years earlier, as well as confirmation to our own spirits.
I have always been a person who seeks to walk in balance, especially as your leader. My way of responding to the Spirit is to let Him unfold a thing. I don’t try to push or make it happen. My father taught me early in life to “make it hard on God.” I hope I have exhibited that in my leadership down through the years at Aglow.
I want to clarify how Aglow has been led these many years. I have had the incredible privilege of being a part of Aglow from its early days. It was in the early to mid 1970s that I first began to help as a volunteer with the beginnings of what we now call the International level.
At that point, Aglow’s office was located in a house in Edmonds, Washington. Because I lived in Edmonds, and served as a local president, and later on an area board, I was asked if I would help with some of the multiple tasks that were developing with this new ministry. The few of us who volunteered in the office found ourselves amazed at the early response to a new ministry, then called Women’s Aglow.
Aglow began in 1967 when nobody dreamed it would become a ministry, much less a worldwide movement. Aglow incorporated in 1972 on the advice of one of the ministry’s first advisors, Father Dennis Bennett. Father Bennett was then rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Seattle, and an early leader in what became the charismatic renewal movement that was sweeping through traditional churches.
The direction and heart of the Father expressed through this dear man of God, encouraged us in this new venture. He had been influential in the unfolding Renewal Movement and voiced his strong sense that God was bringing forth something new in the earth with the birth of Aglow.
Aglow was just beginning to see growth in those early days, yet, prophetic words came from recognized Christian leaders that we would be a ministry that reached out to the nations of the world. Indeed, that has come to pass.
I continued to volunteer in the office through the terms of the first two International Presidents, Ellen Olsen and Margaret Moody. During that time the first International Board was formed. With Aglow as a “new thing in the earth,” they had never walked this way before, yet these women sought after God with their whole heart. Like Abraham, they were walking into a destiny that they didn’t fully understand. They were simply being obedient and God honored them for their faithfulness.
The Male/Female Mandate
In 1980, when I became the third International President, I began to speak about what God had been showing me regarding the significant place women held in His unfolding plan. I shared about the need for reconciliation between male and female so that the plan of God as He spoke it in Genesis 1-3 might come forth. Those early messages and God’s increasing revelation about His plan for male and female reconciliation ultimately became our first mandate.
The Islam Mandate
In 1991, a startling prophetic word came during our international conference in Orlando, Florida, about the Islamic world and the thread God would put in our hand to help unravel that system. That word came through one of our own Aglow women, Diane Fink, who now directs the Aglow Institute of Ministry.
The question that hung in the air in 1991 was, “What do we do now?” When the Board of Directors, who are responsible for the ministry’s major decisions, met to consider that word, we believed strongly that it came from God, but none of us had any idea how or where to even begin. Yet, In God’s faithfulness, He began to lead us in ways that we now stand amazed at as we look back.
In 1993, at our international conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Steve Penny, a young Australian pastor with a prophetic gift, was one of our speakers. This is what he said. “I don’t know what happened in 1991 in your Aglow convention, but… something of God’s purpose for this ministry was sown into your hearts by the Word of the Lord. Conception took place.” He continued, “I believe that in a couple of years ahead, there will be a birthing of the things that have been seeded into your hearts, but at this conference the Spirit of God is confirming, ‘This is what I’m doing. This is My plan.’”
Exactly two years after Steve Penny spoke, another confirmation came at our 1995 international conference by a recognized prophetic leader, Rick Joyner. He knew nothing of the initial word to us. God wanted to make sure we heard and understood that it was something on His heart. When God spoke that first prophetic word to us about Islam, it was 10 years before the tragic events of 9/11. He is Jehovah Jireh, the one who goes before us and provides what is needed at the moment it is needed.
Today we have Aglow groups in many of the Islamic nations and we are beginning our 9th year with Diwaniya, our Arabic language TV series with a vast outreach globally and a great penetration into the Muslim world. Diane Moder, our Islamic Awareness and Education Director, regularly holds insightful seminars that have educated not only Aglow constituents, but also many church leaders.
The Israel Mandate
In July, 2000, while on Aglow’s first journey to Israel -- a trip that we thought would be a “one time thing,” God spoke to my heart in a way that I knew I should pursue a divine connection with Israel. Yet, again, I didn’t know how. I willingly waited for the Holy Spirit to unfold what God might be speaking.
Then, in June, 2001, God sovereignly chose a time when He strongly confirmed to me, and to Aglow, His mandate for Israel. It happened at a small, non-Aglow conference on Israel where several international ministry leaders confirmed what God was saying. Since then, Aglow has taken 8 trips into the land of Israel and is planning the 9th trip for May, 2010. The Holy Spirit has repeatedly said to Aglow, “You have been called for such a time as this.” I believe!
As the international prayer movement has grown around the world, Aglow’s Global House of Prayer has also grown under the direction of Prayer Director, Nancy McDaniel. Thanks to instant communication, today we can rally a million women quickly to pray for critical events taking place in the world. We have grown in experience and authority in prayer.
We appreciate confirming words that have been spoken over this ministry from such ministry leaders of character as Dutch Sheets, an Aglow advisor, who spoke Isaiah 22:22 over Aglow at our 2004 U.S. National Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
Time Brings Shifting Emphasis
When Aglow began back in the 1960’s, the focus was on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit and praise and worship. This was the emphasis because it was how God was moving in those early days.
Then the Spirit began to shift the focus, not abandoning the baptism of the Holy Spirit, nor those early elements of teaching, but building on WHY we had received the life of the Spirit within us. We began to hear how God was cleansing His temple.
We experienced heart and life changes. We realized the need to look at hurts, wounds, beliefs, behavior patterns in our lives that God wanted to set us free from. Many women around the world have testified to great healing that has taken place in their hearts through the ministry of Aglow. I am one of those women.
God was beginning to quicken, heal and restore His handmaidens to be of use to Him in powerful ways. When the Holy Spirit begins to highlight a particular area it is not because WE have decided to make a change. Rather, He is doing it.
Bride and Bridegroom/ Male and Female
In the past couple of years many of us in ministry have sensed something new being highlighted… that of the Bride and Bridegroom. Being a new bride myself, I have been so aware of the drawing of the Bride to the Bridegroom.
The whole word of God is about God seeking an eternal companion for His Son. The Old Testament points towards the coming of His Son, The Messiah and the Bridegroom who will seek, court, and woo the Bride to Himself. The New Testament is the unfolding story of how the Son pursues the Bride for Himself. Interestingly, that “new” focus was confirmed at our conference in Louisville through leaders.
The fact that the Spirit is moving in such a way in this hour is exciting. However, we continue to remain balanced in our approach to what we sense Him doing. We merely acknowledge in our hearts that we are responding to the advancement of the Bridegroom towards His Bride, getting us ready for what He has for us in this hour. I believe God is intentional in what He does and says. Do we understand fully how this is to be walked out? No. Nor have we ever taken any particular theological stance except for our foundational beliefs which have always been open to view on our Web site.
What we do know is that since 2003, men have been drawn to Aglow in a new way, asking to form their own small groups under the Aglow banner. We have watched this happen in several nations and we are waiting on the Lord for next steps. We want to respond in faith that God is well able to develop whatever is on His heart if we will but wait on Him to do so and not respond with fear and doubt.
I think Aglow already has been walking in faith, taking dominion through our prayers. We have prayer teams everywhere that pray powerful prayers. Currently, the 12 U.S. Regional Directors who serve on the US National Leadership Team are each taking a team into Washington DC every month this year to pray for this nation. The first team just concluded their time in our nation’s capital with a wonderful report of how God led them to pray.
In the other nations of the world, Aglow leaders are also praying in parts of their country where few dare to walk – taking dominion over all that does not glorify God. Remember, God directed the first couple in the Garden of Eden to “take dominion.” Again, let me say, for those who seem to fear the word dominion, this is not going beyond what God has said in His Word, but neither is it holding back in fear because some have abused that word.
I continue to be humbled by your love and support as a leader. I also continue to want Aglow to move in the authority she has gained over the years. Just as in life, we gain wisdom as we grow. The same is true in the Spirit realm. To say we have gained authority and wisdom is not a haughty thing. It is something to give God the glory for. Stay low in your own eyes, but move out in the power of the name we all love…..Jesus.
I trust this letter is of some help to you and your heart takes comfort in the fact that God has joined us together, built trust and given us a love for one another that confounds the enemy.
To Him be the glory!
I love the victory of David in II Samuel 5.
And the king [David] and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, ‘You shall not come in here;’.... Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David). II Sam. 5:6-7 NKJV
Even though the enemy said to him, you can’t come in here because this is my territory; nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion. And, not only did he take it, he dwelt there, and renamed it, The City of David! Doesn’t that bring a smile to your face? That is what God is stirring in His people.
Is There a Nevertheless Stirring in You?
- In spite of
- Despite a situation or comment
- Yet, but, however, on the other hand
In tumultuous times there is a nevertheless in us, a choice to advance on the enemy and to not remain quiet. It is time to run to the battle line. It is a time our voice is heard. It is time to take the territory from those that cry out in a threatening way saying, you can’t come in here. It is time to rename it and make it a stronghold for God. It is His plan of advancement for us and for His Kingdom.
In every situation that we face, with any question we might have, like David, we must inquire of the Lord. God has a very strategic way He wants to bring victory to us and bring defeat to the enemy. He intends to show up like the breakthrough of water. He is the master of breakthrough! David advanced because the breaker went before him. We are advancing because the breaker is going before us. The God of breakthrough is working on your behalf today! Believe!
Aglow Worldwide Conference
(Louisville, Kentucky – October 22-25)
Believe indeed! A book I’m reading asks, Do you believe in what you do? Every day? It turns out that belief happens to be a brilliant strategy!
Even the world knows that the forward thrust of a movement is contingent upon people staying connected to one another, connected to a leader and connected to what they believe in. If ever there was a time when we needed to be together, connected, moving forward and believing, it is now. The voice of believers needs to be heard in the earth in a united way.
This year’s Worldwide Conference is a time of forward thrust for the Aglow movement. It is a time to be joined together in heart, faith, and unity. I am urging you to be there with me!
I have fought many battles this past year, just as you have. This is a time for us to together take strongholds. The enemy would love to stay in control of the strongholds in our lives and in our nations, nevertheless, I believe this is a time, more than ever, that we need to stand strong together on the world’s behalf.
For the past few years, Aglow’s voice has been advancing in strength and authority in the spirit realm. That is why Lift Your Voice! Let it be Heard in all the Earth! is our 2009 Worldwide Conference theme.
Last year Aglow received a powerful word from Graham Cooke at the U.S. National Conference in Washington DC.
I believe the jump, the leap, the level that God is putting in front of us is as high as anything we’ve ever done. If you take all the 40 years of Aglow, I think that we are at a critical point in our history. You are going to go to a level unprecedented in your thinking and your planning.
When Graham spoke these words over Aglow, I sensed this was more than a shift. It was a spiritual revolution! I believe it’s a pivotal time for this ministry and our continued advancement.
When you consider the speakers chosen for this conference, you will realize the significance of their ministries and how they align with Aglow’s direction:
Mike Bickle is Founder and Director of the International House of Prayer, a 24/7 prayer and worship center and an epicenter of strategic prayer. Mike speaks with a passion for Jesus that will call out to your heart and expand your love and devotion for Jesus in a profound way.
Asher Intrater, Director of Revive Israel Ministries, comes to us from Jerusalem. As a Jewish believer, he speaks with powerful and unique revelation. He will grip your heart and increase your insights for Israel and the Jewish people at this critical time in political and spiritual history. His ministry aligns with Aglow’s call to Israel. More than ever, Jewish believers need us to stand with them.
Graham Cooke, an internationally respected prophetic speaker and author, speaks powerfully of what it means to be captivated by the majesty of God. There is a place in the Spirit set aside for us where we make the enemy confused. We discourage him by our faith. We depress him by our endurance.
You will not want to miss this gathering. It will be more than a conference. It will be a connection of dynamic proportions that will demoralize the enemy.
Promise Keepers and Aglow
Promise Keepers has planned a stadium event to celebrate their 20th anniversary, July 31 – August 1, 2009 in Boulder Colorado. I have been asked to be a speaker and I feel honored on behalf of all the women I love and serve. The theme God laid on the heart of Coach McCartney is, A Time to Honor. Who will they be honoring?
- Women. We need to rally around women and raise the bar for what it is to be virtuous. The next generation must have a true model for womanhood. Proverbs 31 celebrated virtuous women at the city gates, states McCartney.
- The Spiritual Fathers of the Faith. (I Cor. 4:15) They will honor the Jewish believers who are the spiritual fathers of our faith.
- The Needy. It is a time to bless and serve the less fortunate, the poor and those in need among us. Acts 2 tells us that they shared their resources equally.
Aglow will have a booth at this event and is creating new resources for the new wineskin of Aglow. My husband Tony, along with a group of other men, is helping to create some new handouts specifically for the rally. Could this gathering, the first time women have been invited to PK, be a picture of the fulfillment of men and women walking together in dominion as God intended from the beginning?
I believe the Promise Keepers event will bring a great outpouring of His spirit, as together we come close to the heart of God. This is a unique moment in God’s plan and I encourage you to attend A Time to Honor in Boulder, Colorado. www.promisekeepers.org
Recently I completed the manuscript of a new book on male/female reconciliation called, Master Plan. This book will be unveiled at the Promise Keepers event and will be premiered at our own Worldwide Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. God’s plan is advancing.
On July 10-11, I will be conducting a seminar based on Master Plan at Sonrise Chapel in Everett, Washington. This seminar, Male and Female: Dominion and the Kingdom, is being filmed for use as a course in the Aglow Institute of Ministry (AIM.)
(Hear Diane Fink's passion for AIM. As Director for the Aglow Institute of Ministry, read what's on her heart in this month's update. Get the word out about AIM! You Have a Nevertheless in You
I began this letter saying, It is time to take the territory from taunting voices that cry out in your face saying….you can’t come in here. Rename it! Make it a stronghold for God. You have a NEVERTHELESS in you! It is His plan of advancement for you. The enemy wants to keep us in our old bondages, but God is the God of breakthrough.
Stand with us! Stand for your own advancement in His plan. Stand for the advancement of His plan through Aglow. BELIEVE!
In His love and mine,
