Situated just 10 miles south of the Kansas state line in the panhandle of Oklahoma is Turpin, OK, home to the Beaver County Oklahoma meetings of Aglow International. Beaver County Aglow has the unique distinction of being the oldest Aglow Lighthouse in the state of Oklahoma, beginning regular meetings in 1972, a year before the Oklahoma Aglow State Officers were elected.
Betty Stickler, a charter member and former president of Beaver County Aglow tells the story of State Officers who came to visit the fledgling group intending to provide expertise and advice on Aglow practices. However, when they saw how well the Lighthouse was doing, their response was just the opposite saying, “Maybe we should be asking for your help instead!”
Beaver County Aglow also has the enviable position of drawing from three states for their attendance. With Liberal, Kansas, just 16 miles to the north, and Perryton, Texas, about 30 miles to the south, the group draws members from all three states, meeting together regularly each month in the Turpin Oklahoma Senior Citizen’s Center. Most monthly meetings include a speaker; many times a local person who has a testimony of God’s power and presence in their own lives, lively singing and worship, and a shared lunch.
Beaver County Aglow meets the first Saturday of each month from 10:00am – 12:00pm at the Turpin Senior Citizen’s Center. Newcomers are always welcome. Email Veda King for more information -
