For 18 years the Elko Nevada Aglow Lighthouse has been providing flight bags to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital for the families of patients, including infants, who are flown out of Elko on a life flight to receive specialized treatment at a hospital in Utah or Reno. The items included in the flight bags are: trial-size deodorant and toothpaste, razors, combs, hairbrushes, snacks, drinks, sanitary napkins, note pad, pens or pencils, trial-size pain reliever and toothbrushes.
The Elko Lighthouse also provides bags for rape victims containing large sweat pants and a large T-shirt, in order for them to have a change of clothes when their own clothing must be taken for evidence.
Without the diligence of Darcy Schumacher, Flight Bag Coordinator/NV State Aglow Prayer Coordinator, the outreach may have gone by the way side many times.
Funding for this life-changing ministry is received from Pam Lattin of Canyon Construction, local churches, and private donations.
