Of the more than 42,000 events planned across the United States for the 2014 National Day of Prayer, West Virginia was not without representation thanks in part to Aglow women who stepped up to plan events in their local communities. For the past 14 years, Priscilla Weaver, West Virginia Area Team President, and Gail Little, Madison/Danville Lighthouse President have coordinated the Boone County National Day of Prayer event.
This year about 500 people were in attendance, including a group from Van High School, and a YCI group of 200 young people from the local middle school, and at least 32 churches.
At the Boone County event Aglow women prayed over four of the seven mountains of influence. Several local politicians attended, and one of the county commissioners read a proclamation regarding May 1 being a day of prayer in Boone County. Approximately 100 people participated in a march of praise leading to the court house just before the event began.
Other Aglow leaders and members spearheaded events around West Virginia including; Sarah Weaver, VP of the Weston West Virginia Lighthouse; Patty Poling, Grafton West Virginia Lighthouse President; Aglow member, Marti Dolin in Logan; and others.
Both the Logan and Weston events had television coverage. Debbie Knotts, WV Area Team VP of Administration, was interviewed at the event held in Parkersburg, WV.
