A team of faithful Aglow women have been regularly going into a correctional facility in Oregon to minister to the women inmates there.
Audra Neish, Portland OR (Prison) Neighborhood Lighthouse VP of Financial Development writes,
In the August 18th meeting we brought in a video regarding a man named Pearl, who for years has been taking throw away plants from nurseries (with their permission) and planting them in a garden, making them come back to life. He also does topiaries with many of them.
The women loved the story. Afterward, we divided the women into 3 groups and handed out different colored sticky-note pads. Then they went to a section of the wall in the chapel to make a story of restoration as a group. It was wonderful, and the women had so much fun. The sticky note pictures were still up on the walls when we went in for the next visit.
The September 1st meeting was the kick-off for our fall study. First we had a time of worship, then we had communion with all of us standing around the communion table. After communion we played a Scrabble game with large 6 x 6 letters.
The two teams got 10 tiles at a time and were to make words either from scripture or a word describing something Jesus had done in their lives. They had so much fun and really got into it. The words were all over the floor of the chapel. Next week we start the study of the Names of God and His characteristics.
The Vision of Aglow International is to carry the truth of the Kingdom that:
- Restores people to a radiant place of relationship with God and one another
- Breaks the tyranny of oppression
- Brings freedom and empowerment
