A team of 6 Aglow prayer warriors from the North East Region gathered in Washington DC from September 7-11 to meet with strategic people, pray, and proclaim God’s word over our nation.
NE Aglow Regional Director Ginnie Wible writes, “The Lord gave us several scriptures to prepare our hearts and declare over our time in the Capital including Nehemiah 1:11 and Jeremiah 23:29.
The night before we left, the Lord spoke, ‘Do not become distracted’. We realized we needed to pray, stand, and keep our focus on God’s plan as each of us at one time or another experienced stomach problems, dizziness, headache or pain in our bodies.”
“Our group has been studying about the ‘Appeal to Heaven’ so we wanted to make our own ‘Appeal to Heaven’ as we walked and prayed. This is our time to speak into earth what is in heaven and appeal to Heaven for the Kingdom to come and God’s will to be done on behalf of this generation and those to come.”
The ‘Appeal to Heaven’ flag was originally used by a squadron of six cruisers commissioned under George Washington's authority as commander in chief of the Continental Army. The phrase "An Appeal to Heaven" suggests that when all avenues of help have been exhausted only "An Appeal to Heaven" remains.

On Monday morning the team went on the capital tour with Alice Holland and Ruth Mizell stopping first at the Senate Chapel where they prayed, had communion, and prayed Dave McDaniel’s Crafted Prayer. They then proceeded to the Senate Chamber, silently praying as they walked among the chairs. The platform dictionary was opened to the page where the word “Truth” was defined. After reading the definition, the team prayed quietly that only Truth would be spoken there with no compromise.
Then the team went out on the balcony facing the Washington Monument and made appeals and declarations over the city. They also prayed for David’s Tent and the 50 days of praise and worship. This year’s event will include 24/7 worship on the Ellipse, and the Bible will be read cover to cover from Genesis to Revelation throughout the 50 days.
After lunch in the Senate dining room, the team met with a representative from the Legislative Counsel for the Congressional Prayer Caucus, who shared that there are now 114 members meeting weekly to pray appealing to heaven for the protection of liberty and in defense of freedom.

Various streams came together at the Family Research Council Tuesday morning and many heartfelt prayers were prayed. There they heard from the Director of Christian Friends of Yad Vashem, who gave an impassioned plea on behalf of Christians befriending and supporting Jews, and her concern of rising anti-Semitism worldwide. Susanna also spoke of the Iron Dome, ISIS, the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, the overall lack of resolve in national and church leadership, and many other subjects on behalf of the nation of Israel.
After prayer time, two researchers, Dr. Matthew Parks, and Dr. David Corbin made presentations. Many others, including some from the press, attended the lecture.
The next appointment was with the Israel Allies Foundation. Jordanna gave an excellent briefing on what the IAF does emphasizing the need for Jews and Christians worldwide to support Israel politically. Ginnie writes, “She told us they really appreciate the monthly times with Aglow as we come to DC.”

On Wednesday the team met with the Director of Community Relations of the Bible Museum who shared a video describing the plans to build an International Bible Museum, scheduled to open in 2017 just two blocks from the capital.
Moving on from the Bible Museum, the team met a group in front of the Supreme Court from the Justice House of Prayer (JHOP). This group prays silently covering their mouths with red tape with the word “Life” written on it.
The team was blessed to participate with these young people who persevere, week by week, praying silently with LIFE tape over their mouths. The team taped their mouths and prayed, proudly standing for life!

Ginnie writes, “We left for home grateful for another opportunity to pray for the nation and for all He has revealed to us.”
Another team member adds, “This trip was a wonderful, informative, and inspirational one. There has been much given to us and for that we are grateful. But also, there is much more to offer, and we thank You Father, that as we continue to seek Your face, and not be distracted, You will reveal secrets that we as yet, know not of – individually and corporately, to Your glory!”
