Far from modern civilization, tucked away deep inside the remote part of the Kalimpong hills in India, is a small village called Samthar. The Samthar village is a unique natural resort where nature opens wide with a majestic landscape.
It is an offbeat destination and is growing in popularity mostly among foreigners for its tranquility, pristine environment, friendly people, and of course, the brilliant view of majestic Kanchenjunga, the third-highest peak in the world. The famous Tiger Hill is also visible from Samthar.
God’s Presence reaches even the most remote locations of the world, and He certainly is in this tiny village. Aglow is there too!
Our Aglow sisters in Samthar planned a prayer walk for the first time in May of this year. These 20 faith-filled women set out in the early morning from Kalimpong Pudung East Gate, in two vehicles. As the Holy Spirit led, they began to pray mainly against the powers of darkness in the areas where many strongholds, like temples, are along the way. Some places are where accidents occur often, or where rapes take place as well. In addition, they came across a place where witchcraft takes place in the nighttime.
It took four hours to reach their destination one way. One leader said “God has been so faithful. He gave us His Holy boldness to destroy the strongholds by faith in the blood of Jesus. He inspired us to clean the land. We have faith that His Kingdom come over the land in the days to follow.”
There was a wonderful God opportunity where they visited a Buddhist family. Sukmit, is the daughter of this family and is married to a Christian man. She now serves as a local Aglow board member. It was reported by another Aglow leader, “Sukmit took us to her home and introduced her father and all her family members. God opened the door for sharing the Gospel, and they were very happy. The Lord willing, a few ladies will revisit the place in the days to come.”
We are grateful for these Aglow faithful prayer warriors! They heard Holy Spirit say to go, and they did. God protected them as they went out in the land. Let us all agree with them that God’s Light will overcome all darkness in Samthar and surrounding areas. And, we ask God to show evidence of their prayers being answered in miraculous ways!
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.” John 8:12
