Prayer breaks chains and gives favor that is supernatural. It enables rescue and puts people in the right place at the right time.
Can you believe that summer has passed and autumn is here? I hope you are doing well and that your summer was wonderful. This month we’re continuing in our series of “Know – Pray – Act” by focusing on mentorship.
Know
Mentorship is a powerful tool. Another word for a mentor is a trusted advisor. Teens and pre-teens in your community need trusted advisors in their life. Suitable mentors for teens and young people are church leaders, school counselors or other appropriate volunteer programs and Aglow women who reach out to teens through our Generations Project.
Did you know that one in five girls ages 10 to 18 cut themselves? How about the effect of social media and depression in young adults? Both of these are issues that make young people vulnerable to attention – good or bad.
You may wonder what this has to do with anti-trafficking. This has everything to do with prevention. Young girls are tricked and recruited by traffickers, because they (traffickers) take time and energy to invest into girls and show they care about their lives. What if we take the opportunities that God gives us to show we care about their lives? And unlike any trafficker, our only motive is to love and care for them like Jesus does.
Pray
- God, how can I be used in my community? Thank you for opening doors and opportunities ahead of me to do Your work, and be Your hands of love and compassion in my community.
- God, help trafficked victims in my community who have been rescued. Strengthen them with your mighty power and love.
Act
Have you ever considered volunteering as a mentor in your community? Volunteering in homework clubs, Big Sister/Big Brother programs, or with your church are great ways to become involved. These are great opportunities to get to know youth and be a rock for someone in a difficult time. Junior High and High School years are hard and often overlooked – yet you can be an encouraging voice in a trying time for someone!
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25
Rescue Freedom
Let’s continue to pray for Rescue Freedom as they work to rescue children from sex trafficking in 7 nations.
Pray:
- After much work, Rescue Freedom has a pending purchase of property in India! We have been praying for this for over a year. Pray that this will go through, and that God’s favor will be clear and evident on this sale.
- Pray for the brand new scholarship program they are launching, that the transition will be smooth and that this student will do well in her studies.
