After the inspiring story of the Sammamish, WA Aglow’s success with the “Back the Blue” challenge, the North Sound Area’s “Back the Blue” community outreach is taking hold once again, this time in Everett, WA.
The newly affiliated Everett Neighborhood Lighthouse went to the North Everett Police Precinct with five baskets full of healthy snacks along with cards of thanks and appreciation. Christie Spaulding, President of North Sound Area team said, “Our new Aglow Lighthouse met outside the North Precinct building with some very happy police officers who were thrilled we stopped by. They were receptive to our prayers and our desire is to develop relationships with each precinct as the Lord leads us forward. We want them to know the Lord loves them, we appreciate their work and that we are committed to praying God’s protection over them and their families.”
Joyce Dudder, VP of Lighthouse Development on the North Sound team, made the initial contact with the North Precinct to set the date to deliver what was originally thought to be one basket. The members of the Everett group were so excited that 5 baskets were delivered along with some homemade treats too. One basket had small tags on each item with words like ‘grateful’, ‘thankful’, and ‘appreciated’. Bags of microwave popcorn had little signs that said, “Just poppin’ in to say, ‘thanks!’”
The Everett group is already planning to visit the South Precinct soon and wants to encourage Aglow groups across the nation to pick up the challenge to support local law enforcement by letting them know we are praying for them. Snacks are nice, too!
