July 2006 USA News Report

JoAnne Meckstroth, U.S Director of the Northwest Region, reports on 20 days of travel through Washington and Oregon.  Many of the Aglow meetings were so rich with the Presence of the Lord that the Aglow women did not want to leave.  One Lighthouse leader traveled with JoAnne for several days.  She began the trip discouraged.  After a few days of travel, she said, “After four days of hearing great teachings that ministered to my heart and the opportunity to talk and listen with the women on the team, I return home changed.”

Another woman called to say, “I came to the meeting in great pain in my neck and lower back that I had suffered from for months.  I almost left the meeting because I was in such discomfort.  When the team prayed for me, I could feel warm water washing over my body.  I slept through the night for the past two nights and I mowed my yard today!  I would never have been able to do that before the prayer.”

At the Teen Aglow Conference the Presence of the Lord was overwhelming and many of the teens were on the floor, laughing.  Some came with hearts that were discouraged and had suicidal thoughts.  Some were depressed because of lack of love from their fathers.  Some had been abused.  The laughter on Saturday night broke the weight of the problems the teens were carrying.  One teen said, “I have never experienced the Presence of the Lord in this way before.  I feel like I am grounded in love.”

Couples Aglow in Colorado – Sharon Ferry and her husband, Bob, have opened their home for a couples Bible study.  So far five couples have joined together to study and fellowship.  The group recently completed their third Bible study on Spiritual Warfare.  Two of those attending have received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit!  The couples meet for a meal each week before the study.  Sharon says, “It has been a real joy to see the couples grow in the Lord, especially the men!”

Cozad, Nebraska Community Lighthouse President, Karen Hudson, reports how the women from Cozad have reached out to be a blessing to a local Church in a neighboring community through the invitation of the Pastor.  The Pastor of a United Methodist Church planned to present a message about the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday.  After his message, he wanted his congregation to go to prayer stations where they would receive prayer “from someone who knows what this Holy Spirit is about.”

Enter the Aglow women!  After checking with her pastor, the Aglow Advisors and her Lighthouse Team, Karen received a green light to accept the invitation. Each team member went to her own church early that Sunday morning to prepare her heart to minister to the congregation of the Methodist Church.  After arriving at the Church and hearing the Pastor’s message, each woman took her place at a prayer station near the front.  The Pastor had given them paper and pencil to record any “words” that might come forth.  The Aglow women were encouraged to anoint with oil, lay hands on the people and pray.  After praying for all who wanted prayer, the Aglow women shared in a time of communion with the congregation.  Then, the Pastor asked the Aglow women to lay hands on him! The Pastor of the Methodist Church reports that he has received many good comments and he hopes to attend the Aglow meetings in Cozad soon.  To God be the glory, great things He has done!
