May 2006 International Personal Stories

AFRICA

Cameroon: At the recent Aglow Cameroon National Conference, the women in attendance were challenged by the theme: "Making a Difference", and left the conference promising to start making a difference in their homes.  A pastor’s wife was burdened about her unsaved children.  She did not know how to bring them to Christ.  She suggested a morning family devotion time and was surprised that the sons all accepted the idea and are enjoying this daily time together in God’s Word.

ASIA & SOUTH PACIFIC

Kazakhstan:  Karin de Keijzer, and an Aglow team, went to Zharkent “with a lot of humanitarian aid”.

The team spoke at a church, and then met with the women of the church.  The men were so hungry many also asked if they could be at the women’s meeting.

The team saw incredible things happen after the meetings in Zharkent.  One of the team members spoke on reconciliation.  One woman went home for lunch and met her elderly neighbor.  Years before they had a fight and physically attacked each other.  The woman went and asked forgiveness – they had a wonderful time of forgiveness and reconciliation.

A 14 year old girl (after prayer was given for her by one of the team members) asked that she be able to “forget the shame of her youth”.  This young lady had been sexually abused.  The team told her “she was not guilty and that it was not her fault”.  The girl started weeping, she had carried this secret for a very long time.

India:  Merina Netto, national president for Aglow in India, and her team have just returned from an outreach trip to several cities.

  • Bangalore - Merina tells of wonderful testimonies, one was of the healing of a paralyzed woman.
  • Hyderabad – our Aglow leader has recently had two heart attacks – she is in our prayers.
  • Nasik – they held a 3 day retreat.  There were 40 women in attendance, 18 women from Mumbai came for the retreat, as well as the Nasik women.  Merina said “God’s presence was experienced by everyone”.   She also said, “the ladies of Nasik were weeping as they received love and the blessings from the Mumbai ladies”.
  • Pune – there were new souls who came to the Lord.

The Aglow women take the love of Jesus to the villages and cities of their nation – a Word, an arm around their sister, a prayer = changed lives!
