California Lighthouse holds Emergency Training Class

January 23, 2008

CPR Training
The Mojave West Area Team recently held a CPR and First Aid training class in Victorville, CA.  Eighteen were in attendance.  Having been encouraged by Carolyn Suty, Southwest Regional Director and Donna Legenza, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, to be prepared for an emergency, this Area Team took the message to heart, found an instructor, selected a venue for the event, set the date, and sent out invitations.

The class was an all day event.  Attendees were asked to bring a sack lunch and the Area Team provided drinks and cookies.  Not only was the event open to Aglow women, the invitation was extended to churches and the community.  Some who attended were nursery workers and those who needed CPR and First Aid training for foster care.  Those attending found the class to be very rewarding and the idea is spreading to provide training in other communities.

Because of this training class, 18 people are now prepared to act when faced with an emergency situation rather than to react.  Contact your local EMS, hospital, or Red Cross to set up a training class in your community.  Emergency situations occur each day. Be prepared!
