On Thursday December 20th, 2007 Judy Middleton, the strong, beautiful and respected National President for Aglow International in Japan, went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer. The memorial service was held on Friday, December 21st, and Saturday, December 22nd.
As National President of Aglow Japan, Judy was an honored leader for Aglow in her nation. Judy, married to Max Middleton, the pastor at Takasaki Grace Bible Church, worked with him to build up their community in many ways. Judy began serving in Aglow in 1990, first as the Corresponding Secretary on a local board, and then serving as the National President for the Japan Aglow National Committee in 1993.
Japan was just affiliated as a National Board in November, 2007, which was a dream Judy had long desired be fulfilled. As one of the Asia Regional Committee leaders, Judy was loved and much respected by all of the Aglow groups. She also received the great respect of many pastors in Japan and was invited to share at multiple pastors’ conferences in the nation.
Judy had a special heart for women and wrote a book titled "Clothed with Strength and Dignity" (in Japanese only) and was working on a second book. She also headed up a strong prayer circle throughout the nation.
Members from the Aglow Worldwide Headquarters staff, including President, Jane Hansen Hoyt; Prayer Director, Nancy McDaniel; and International Field Director, Jervae Brooks, attended the Japan National Conference in June 2007 and shared a special time of prayer for Judy, rejoicing in the sweet and wonderful things that God had done through her as a powerfully anointed leader.
Judy is survived by her husband Max and their three children – David, Andrew and Sarah. The worldwide Aglow family continues to pray for the family and grieves their sad loss with them. Judy’s legacy of love will continue to grow in the hearts and minds she shaped for Christ.
