Joan Morton 1925-2012

Reverend Joan Morton

1925 – 2012

Joan MortonJoan Morton was a true ambassador for the Kingdom and her life deeply touched women and men throughout the world as she served in the Aglow ministry from her appointment in 1977 as National President of Aglow Australia, and in 1980 as a member of the International Board of Directors, until her resignation in 2005. Joan passed away in Australia in August, 2012.

Joan’s call from God took her out of ministry in the church and thrust her “into the arena” of life as she shared in her book I Ask for Australia.  She took countless women on tours to the International Conferences which opened their eyes and hearts to the bigness of the world and the bigness of God. She brought home transformed women who had not only been touched by words but by exposure to new opportunities, sights and sounds and the tender and unexpected touch of God in a sunset or a mountain view.

Joan took new territory for the Kingdom of God, not only in Australia but wherever she journeyed. As National leader and member of the International Board of Directors she travelled to 45 nations teaching, training and establishing leaders in Aglow.  She was a valued part of strategic teams that spearheaded the I Mandate in the Middle East led by Aglow International. What God established through Joan’s life work continues today on the strong foundation she built.

Our hearts are saddened as we think about other faithful women of God who have led Aglow in various ways, and who have gone on to their eternal reward this past year.  Lina Thurston, National President of Aglow Chile and IBOD member; Jo VanderVen, National President of Aglow Belgium/Flemish; Mary Lance Sisk, Love Your Neighbor Coordinator and Consultant to the IBOD, and others.  What an honor to have served with each one.
