Renewed Hope, Restored Peace

The Aglow Boonsboro Maryland Neighborhood Lighthouse is reaching out monthly to the San Mar Children’s Home. The home is for girls who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or removed from the foster care system. Their positive response has been overwhelming to the creative skits and practical, life lessons the team presents.
In May, the Aglow team shared about their earthly mothers and about a mother they admired in the Bible. Then, they asked the girls to share about their mothers. In an environment of trust and acceptance, the girls opened up about their lives. The staff also joined and through their sharing, demonstrated to the girls that not only were they there to care for the girls; they care about them as well. After the sharing time, the girl's allowed the Aglow team to pray for them. One of the girls, who had just arrived the night before did not want to share at the beginning of the meeting, much less tell anyone her name. By the end, she was hugging and thanking the Aglow team for coming. At the conclusion of the meeting all felt a sense of renewed hope and restored peace.

Every day I wake up and ask myself why am I alive? Your speaker has shown me that there is something in life for me today. I was told that this is another fresh, clean day to start on! Seeing God’s work opened my eyes and I thank God. I hope you know how much change your speaker is doing in the world for young teens by sharing her story.
