ocean-wave-webWelcome to 2014! Here are my thoughts regarding this New Year. 2014 will be a year of deliverance, salvation and completeness in many areas.   It is going to be a great year, so live in expectation of great things.

In relation to the number 2014, there isn’t a number for million in Hebrew.  They used “thousand thousand” to represent a million.  For instance, Revelation 5:11 states:  And I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders:  and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands.  So, 2000 is related to a thousand which is a number connected with:

• Divine completeness
• The Glory of God
• God’s Divine care and protection of His own

Completeness speaks of bringing to a perfected state, of bringing to a desired end, or of something being fully carried out.  Protection speaks of covering or shielding from injury or destruction, of guarding and saving from loss.

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.  Psa 91:4-6

The number 14 represents deliverance.  This means to get someone to the intended destination and to produce what has been promised.   Salvation speaks of deliverance and liberation.  Powerful words of intentionality!

It was the “14th day of the 1st month” of the year when Israel was delivered from Egyptian bondage and from the judgment against Egypt's firstborn.  They were delivered on the basis of the blood of the lamb and the basis of that deliverance continues today.   Think about the fact that God was delivering Israel from their past bondage in Egypt.  He was delivering them in the present moment from slavery.  And He was delivering them into their future destiny…all based on the blood of the lamb.  The same is true for you!

There is deliverance and victory in the blood of the Lamb for every situation. He said, When I see the blood, I will pass over you! The blood was the final statement of God’s power.  He told them to make Passover and the partaking of the lamb an everlasting memorial throughout all generations.  The power of the blood is Heaven’s final statement over your life, as well.  There is power in the blood of Jesus. The Israelites ate the lamb with a belt on their waist and sandals on their feet.  It was a matter of eating in faith, trusting that deliverance was present for them in that moment.  It was also an act of faith that this deliverance was taking them into their future.  And so it is with you!

Another powerful reference to deliverance is found in Acts 27 in relation to Paul’s voyage to Rome. The winds were contrary and sailing was dangerous.  Because they were exceedingly tempest tossed, they had to lighten the ship.  In other words, if they wanted to make their destination they had to throw some things overboard!

There are things that we have held onto that must be released in this New Year.  Just as Paul, and the men with him on his journey, knew that in order to reach their destination they had to lighten their load, so it is with us. 2014 is a time for us to throw some things overboard!  There are things we need to just let go of.  We need to let people off the hook.  We need to let ourselves off the hook.  We need to let go of negativity.  Let go of living in shame and of putting yourself down.  Let go of thinking less of yourself than Heaven thinks.  Let go of being emotionally or spiritually held captive to old mindsets and ways of thinking and speaking.  It is time to let go of hurts and wounds.  Let go of trying, working and striving and trust more in the work of the Holy Spirit to accomplish what is on the heart of God.  It is time to fully step into the new place that God has prepared.   It is a time of closure and a time of new beginning. Interestingly, deliverance came for Paul and those with him on the 14th night!  It came because they were willing to get rid of whatever was necessary to lighten the ship.

Jesus, the Lamb of God, has done too much for us to be unbelieving or for us to live below the level of all that He died to purchase for us.  It is time for us to walk in the deliverance that is available for us, the deliverance He died to give us.   Throw anything overboard that is keeping you from advancing.  Live in expectation of great things this year.  He is with you to deliver you, protect you and bring you to a desired end.
